My birthday is next month, and my family always asks for my wishlists. I generally don’t mind doing this, but this year I’m absolutely stumped.
More about me: - I like exercising - I like sports and watching shows/movies at home - I like cooking (but not necessarily baking) - I’m a homebody, don’t really like going out much if I can help it — so I love comfy stuff, relaxing stuff, things to do at home
Seriously though, if you’re kind of like me, what are some of your favorite things?
My parents got my husband and me a virtual cheese and beer pairing class from Murray's Cheese in NYC. It was awesome! They mailed us the cheeses . I like an experience gift like that.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I really want two linen aprons with the cross back (sometimes called Japanese or pinafore style) I saw some that were so cute, I'd probably wear them with leggings and a tee shirt around the house (and let's be honest, out of the house too).
Something from Ulta (I have a fear of my ancient blowdryer dying one morning) or a giftcard Books, always shoes or a bag (I like Birks, Docs, Tieks, Dansko and tote bags- I've never tried a Portland leather goods bag, but I keep looking at them. I have an Everlane leather tote that I like) leggings and/or a long cardigan Stasher bags A sweatshirt material throw or blanket for lounging A team sweatshirt or a sweatshirt or plain tees from Life is Good (they are so thick and nice)

For exercising, we’ve really upped our home gym game this year. So things like weights, yoga mats, one those Bosu trainer things, etc.
Gear is also essential: Headphones, obviously. I love those packable hiking bags that fold up into a pouch (because we travel with them) but a good hiking backpack in general. H and I also have these paper thin, waterproof jacket shells from Patagonia that we use for running and hiking in the rain (they also fold up into a small pouch — I can seriously carry it around in my purse. OBSESSED.) Fitness tracker watch, if you don’t have one. Same with water bottles (I have reusable water bottles for every occasion, from packable ones to biking ones to insulated ones.)
For watching TV, I got H a Sonos sound bar, which he loves.
Otherwise I love gift cards because I love shopping. For exercise I would love a gift card to my Pilates studio (or a barre studio etc), new workout clothes, new headphones…
I would really like a cozy blanket that packs down small so I can fit it in my luggage when work starts sending me to live conferences again. I hate using hotel blankets.
I would set up a birthday fundraiser and just give them the link for people to donate to a charity- mine would be one of the local pet rescues I work with. I am fortunate to have everything I need and I really hate telling people what to buy me for gifts. I did it least year (40th) and seeing a struggling rescue get a larger sum on my behalf was so gratifying. So, win/win.
Things I have liked or otherwise wouldn’t object to - a Title Nine or Athleta gift card, a Sandcloud blanket, paint by number of a scene from a national park I’ve been to, cooking class I could do at home with my husband, donation to a charity (my friends pooled money for a donation to a tree planting nonprofit for my birthday this year, which was awesome), agreeing to take my kids for a weekend so we can get away for our anniversary.
