I need to order this today, it's the first big bathroom decision and I feel frozen by indecision.
It'll be a drop in tub on a built in platform (shower next to it), w/large window behind it (like 48" x48"). I grew up w/a jetted tub and liked it, my kids love it. But I'm a little afraid of maintenance and the thing breaking. I take baths regularly, like twice/week.
I like the idea of a jetted tub, in theory, but in practice I know in my house it would never get used. My Mom has one and when the grandkids were little it was a novelty to use, but otherwise, it just sits unused, she is actually remodeling her bathroom and getting rid of it. Plus, like you said, there is the maintenance aspect and just one more thing that can break. It's a no for me dawg.
We had a jetted tub in our old house and a soaking tub in this house. For us, they are things we clean more than we use. If I took a bath twice a week though, I'd go for the jetted tub.

In theory I love a jetted tub. We have one. But I don’t use it enough and it gets moldy inside, no matter what I do. If you use it 2 times per week and enjoy jets, it seems like it would be fine.
Alternatively, I have started seeing more air jet tubs. They push out air instead of water so there is no water inside the jets that sits. Have you thought about something like that?
darby, I'm not adverse to an air tub, but the lead times on some of these are pretty crazy (I want to go w/a Kohler, American Standard or Jacuzi brand) - the lead time is like 10-16 weeks on some tubs.
I talked to DH about it, I think I'm going to go w/the drop in. The gallon capacity and weight are less than half the Kohler Archer, but I still think it's plenty big. I may spend a little extra on spray jets in the shower or something...

That makes sense & what I would probably choose as well. I can’t wait to see your after pics!
We have a huge jetted tub in the house we bought three years ago and I spent lots of time and money trying to clean alllllll the nasty black specks out of it. It skeeves me out. Soaking tub all the way.
