I believe I have plantar fasciitis, but am not able to see my doc for a few weeks. Last week I increased my mileage (and I also need new shoes) and the next morning couldn't put any weight on my foot/heel. Throughout the day it felt completely better, so I ran again 2 days later. Woke up, pain again. Googling led me to PF so I've been stretching, icing and resting with no running. This morning (1 week later) is the first day with zero pain.
I am getting new running shoes tomorrow. I'm wondering how long I should rest before trying running again? I've been reading a lot of things online that it can take a year to heal. I'm freaking out that I won't be able to train for my Spring marathon.
Freeze a water bottle or get a baseball and roll it around under your foot.
Stretch, stretch, stretch. Ankles and claves and hamstrings and quads.
Some orthotics (Superfeet Green) may help too.
And the sleep boot made a big difference for me too.
I ended up training through PF for a 10k and then having to take 6-8 weeks off running for PT. Since then, I’ve been able to curtail it once it starts.

Plantar fasciitis typically hurts the worst first thing getting out of bed in the morning with stiffness and pain. If you woke up one day and had no pain, I doubt that it is what you have. Definitely stop running in bad shoes. Try walking a few days and see if the pain subsides. Also don't walk around your house barefoot or wear heels, wear good supportive shoes all the time. Get it checked out though because if it is PF, pushing through will only make it worse and take it longer to heal.
