It's Friday, so what have you been reading this week?
QOTW: If you could only choose one, would you rather have five long weekends off of work/life (so like Saturday through Monday) or one entire week off (Saturday through the following Sunday)?
Currently Reading: The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang This book is not romance and needs a trigger warning IMO. So if you haven't read it, be warned. Quan is barely a supporting character in the book and it focuses mostly on his GF, Anna. Anna is emotionally abused by her family in most of the book (I'm at 70%).
While there is the story of their relationship, it's not the main focus at all. I have no idea how I'm going to rate it when I'm done because I thought I was getting one story and this is not it by a long shot.
QOTW: Five long weekends. I need to break-up something to look forward to.

Finally Friday! I should be able to finish "The Perfect Ruin". It's pretty good, but major @@@@ TW's. "Surprise Me" is about to expire with 35% left to go as well. It's not that great and I'm read to be done/should be 100 pages shorter.
QOTW: If that was all the PTO I had, then more long weekends. I have to have a day off every once and a while for my mental health.
I'm reading Nine Perfect Strangers. I don't think it's been too popular on here. I'm liking it ok so unless there's a weird turn in the last 30% I expect to give it 3 to 4 stars. I want to watch the Hulu series.
QOTW: I stay home but I'd take long weekends to savor a little break every week.

meowmaps, I read 9 Perfect Strangers a few months ago. Happy to discuss once you're done. I haven't seen the Hulu show yet, agree the book was 3*'s at best so I'm not sure if I'd like the show.

I will definitely chime in when I'm finished! Something tells me the show will take some creative license so maybe it'll be better. I'm hoping to finish this weekend if my family will let me...it's been a trying week.
Survive the Night by Riley Sager wasn't as bad as a lot of people made it out to be but that's not saying much. I described it to MH as "an example of everything wrong with the thriller genre."
Ariadne by Jennifer Saint was an absolutely fantastic retelling of the Greek story with a heavy dose of feminism. Highly recommend if that sounds like something you would enjoy.
QOTW: If that was all the time off I got I guess I'd have to pick 5 days consecutively. We travel internationally at least once a year in normal times so a long weekend wouldn't be enough time.
I finished The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, 2*. I can see where people love this book, but it was not for me. It was too Hallmark. I should finish The Last Night in London by Karen White tonight. So far it's been a mediocre book.
QOTW: I'll be the outlier. I would want an entire week off. You cannot go anywhere very far away over a long weekend or if you do you spend most of the time traveling.

Just finished. Ultimately, while not my favorite of hers, I was still engaged in the story/characters. Started the show tonight too. They definitely changed up a lot of it. Not sure how I feel about it when I compare it to the book. I should probably stop comparing and let it stand on its own.

I just finished Velvet Was the Night. I'm not sure how I feel about it. There were definitely things I loved about it but also quite a bit I didn't like. I'm probably settling at 3 stars for it.
QOTW: Depends I suppose. If I can plan a vacation or something that needs to get done, the whole week. Otherwise I do enjoy my long weekends when I take PTO on Fri or Mon!
