dried beans in the crockpot?

This weekend my aunt was telling me about cooking dried beans in the crockpot. I've never done this and was wondering if any of you have and if anyone might have directions for how to do this.

I do black beans like this all the time.
I soak overnight, rinse in the morning then put them in the crock pot and cover with water. I cook them on low until they are tender. I'd say around 4 hours I start checking them.

I use the same method and have done black beans and pinto beans.

I basically do it like this
but no butter or bacon grease...

I use some corn oil(3 to 4 tablespoons) to saute the beans saute the and mash them like he does with some of the bean juice...
