My friend and talented craftsman is making some cabinets and a mantle for me. I mocked up in excel what I think I want but would love feedback. This is a very long wall with two awkwardly placed basement windows. The left side of the room is the TV lounge side, right is game table. I’ll include the floor plan so you can see why the room needs split this way — the entry into it is off-center. I think adding the shelves on the end only (vs. shelves across) makes it less visually cluttered m, and I think centering the TV and art in the remaining space create a nice visual step-down from the window to the mantle. Planning on a round mirror for some curves and scones next to the mirror and at the top of each shelf. I actually think for sports entertainment having 2 frame TVs would be awesome, so I’m planning on adding an outlet behind the art just in case.
I need to determine the depth for the cabinets still. They will stick out from the fireplace so ideally not too deep, but deep enough for toys and games. I was thinking 15” but now wondering if 18” would be better (the shelves will be 3” more shallow). I also need to decide for the upper shelves if I want oak shelves or painted.
I still need to sample paint colors but right now I’m thinking BM Swiss coffee for the walls, BM Bleeker Beige for baseboards and dry bar cabinets (blends in very well with the carpet), and BM Gentleman’s Gray for these cabinets (the other blues shown are Hale Navy and Newburyport Blue). The dry bar will have blue slate floors and I think Gentlemen’s Grey is a better complement with the green undertones. I considered Manchester tan for the baseboards and dry bar but thought it was a little light (however it is a basement!). All the wood will be white oak stained to a mid-tone (consistent with other wood in our house).
devonpow redid her basement and from what I can remember has a wall similar to what you want to create and it is gorgeous.
Aw, thanks! OP we did do something similar. Narrow basement room - originally had a stage at one end and has inconvenient high windows on the other. We actually ended up blocking in one of the windows with the built ins by the TV and it looks a lot better that way I think. It’s hard to tell layout from the pics but basically the door to enter is off center. To the left of the door we put a little table/game area (that’s where the stage used to be). To the right all built ins. We centered a TV on the long wall across from the door.

Your layout looks fine to me. As long as those windows don’t face West it shouldn’t be a problem for TV viewing. I prefer a low TV with it not being over the mantelpiece as well.
