What are you getting everyone this year? I especially need ideas for 13 yo ss. H and I are out of ideas.
I have a few games for dd, I’m going to get her a lego set, Polly pocket school, and my generation hospital kit, and I think that’s it for her.
One of my nieces is getting a play kitchen, so I got her dishes and food. Another niece is getting a lego set, and littlest is getting talking number and alphabet puzzles.
G is getting an experience gift, so she doesn’t have to haul stuff back to Italy- I’m taking her to DC overnight. I’ll get her a few little things too.
Mom’s getting a casual outfit, she’s retiring at the end of the year, and probably a candle or something. I’m thinking a 6 month whiskey club for dad, combined with his birthday present.

Ds is getting a smart watch (probably a samsung galaxy active). At this point I feel like all he wants is new technology or to upgrade something he already has.
I have zero ideas for my 10 year old dd though.
I'm hoping to get them a zipline as a joint gift (we have a ninjaline that gets used daily by both), but I need to make sure we have trees that it will work with.

So far I've ordered duffle bags for DS1&2 for day trips. I'm thinking of getting them bulletin boards because they keep taping stuff to their doors. I got DS1 the new Zelda when Target had 40% off (thanks to someone on here for mentioning it). I want to get DS2 a rebounder and/or a lacrosse goal for our backyard (his b-day is in December). We ordered DS1 a bike almost a year ago and it will hopefully be here for Christmas.
DH and I only get each other small things and buy what we want for under the tree, but I got him a Squatty Potty. I think it's funny and he's either playing sudoku on his phone or is having a problem that it would be helpful for!
Not sure about my mom.
We try not to exchange with our adult siblings (that works out better with my family than DH's) and do not exchange with extended family or friends.
For stockings I got the kids some kinetic sand, yo-yos, a Nalgene, and I want to get some Speks (little magnetic balls for fidgeting - but I think they're ridiculously priced so I haven't yet). I'll do some candy and toiletries and probably books.

Daughter - 8 Books XL Pop-it Shower bombs Masks Hair chalk Fun tall socks Lego Mario sets Pokémon snap Alarm clock Bird puzzle/bird bingo/bird watcher book (she’s really into birds and hiking)
Son - 2 Books Mickey Mouse fire engine and figures Bath bombs Bath toys Lego duplo car wash and recycling truck Dress-up clothes A stuffed goofy and Donald Probably some more little plastic things for his stocking
For H Lego castle and blacksmith (he builds these to remember his brother and I try to get him 1 or 2 big ass sets at Christmas) Warioware Ball pouch underwear A space pen with “Jack Clompers” engraved on it (Seinfeld joke) A pineapple corer A basket for his bike A massage
For parents - calendar with kid pictures, homemade ice cream, candy or nuts in a tin from DD’s GS sale, I’m also going to get my mom a hummingbird swing because I like her more than the rest, lol
For siblings - we always do food and booze and a donation to an org they work with.
My best friends/sister will all get gifts like planters, weed trays (lol), home decor, art prints from Golden Hour Gift Co. / Olives & Grace (both women owned gift shops in VT and Boston, respectively).
I'm going to try for a PS5 for my partner.
Parents (both of ours) got 9x12 photo canvases of kid from Free Prints (they're free this month-- just pay $13 shipping).
Kid got dinosaurs, bath bombs with surprises inside, a couple Bluey toys and Paw Patrol HQ is his big gift.
I just want an experience gift from my partner-- a trip to NYC to shop at the smaller specialty grocery stores. I wouldn't be mad at some USA pans, a muslin blanket for our bed and some Nespresso pods.

DS1 (8) is getting switch games, Mario Lego set, books, gravity maze, a magic kit.
DS2 (5) is getting a switch game, blocks that build into a castle, a foam sword and shield (he's super into being a knight right now), math cubes, books.
DH: I'm thinking about a theragun. Probably some clothes. He's hard to shop for and I don't have many ideas other than this.
Ds who will be nearly 8 - sleeping bag - lego with a book (last year I did ocean theme, i think space theme this year) - a subscription to British Columbia magazine - Bop it - random stocking stuff
DH (who loves grilling and beer) - Lodge large rectangle griddle - Carhartt apron - Yeti tall can coozy - bottle opener to mount on our deck
I think we are getting a Switch as a family gift. Maybe. If so, we'll get a couple games to go with it.
My Mom - wall art from etsy? - flowers?
My Dad - netflix giftcard? - omaha steaks?
Would LOVE suggestions for mail order gifts in the states. Last year we skipped gifts with my parents and put aside the money to do something this summer because we naively thought we could travel summer 2021. Lolsob. My parents are really simple people and have everything they need. They aren't big foodie people, but the omaha steaks is in their wheelhouse. My mom really loved those tulips that everyone raved about last spring.
I’m going to talk to our moms and siblings about not exchanging gifts this year. Everything we buy are things we can just buy for ourselves at this point, so it’s kind of a waste. My load will be much lighter if I can convince the family to stick to this.
DS1: -Nintendo Switch and a couple of games -Pajamas -Chapter book series (maybe the magic treehouse ones, but I want to ask his teacher for suggestions at our conference with her this week) -Pencil sharpener or a Hydroflask
DS2: -I’m really undecided on his “want” gift. He doesn’t need more toys. Maybe legos or an experience gift of some sort. -Pajamas -A book, not sure what yet -Hydroflask (he really needs a water bottle with a plastic spout, as he keeps chewing apart the rubber ones)
And, of course, I use stockings to stray a bit from my self-imposed four gift rule, so probably some other small stuff.

DS(8)- Switch games, Discovery Mind Blown circuit set, a karate punch/kick pad and one or two other small things that pop up with the holiday toys DS(5)- Mario playsets, Mario legos and an Ender Dragon pillow buddy I got this week from Target DD(5)- KidKraft version of the Barbie dream house. It's bigger and a lot cheaper. LOL doll, Lego friends set and a Hello Kitty stuffy. DH- no idea yet but we usually get each other games or puzzles, etc Mom- Maybe a digital photo frame Nieces and nephews are all adults and live all over so I just venmo them. MIL/FIL- no ideas yet My friends stopped exchanging gifts a few years ago and instead go to a fabulous fancy brunch in December and go all out on champagne, etc. It's my favorite part of Christmas lol.
We really cut down on gift giving last year since there weren't opportunities to be in person and I'm hoping that continues. I won't start for adults until later but I'm worried enough about shipping delays that I want to have DS's gifts mostly done, or at least ordered, this month.
So far I have a few board games, books and a Switch game.
DS (11) - Lego Mario sets, Switch games, books, Snap Circuits, gift cards towards future Switch games & books - maybe some jigsaw puzzles if I can find something he'd like. Already bought the Lego, and just waiting for the Switch Games to be released.
DS (21) - probably $ and g.c.
We stopped exchanging gifts with adult family members a few years ago. All the kids in the extended family now get g.c. -- many are out of state, so g.c. are easy.

DS is getting a guitar. DD I have no damn clue. H is likely getting a musical instrument or something to his with it. Nieces and nephews are getting gift cards to experiences.
My 13 year old daughter wants clothes, clothes, clothes. And then more clothes.
"Santa" may bring a lego set, because she loves those too, but she's kind of beyond "toys."
Zero ideas for my 10 year old daughter. H wants to get her a guitar, but really it would be more for him than her, lol. She plays, and truly loves guitar, but she's now his excuse to buy cool sparkly ones that are too "young" looking for him, lol. Enter the mint green sparkle Telecaster he got her for her birthday last year, lol. I mean, she's TEN. One insanely nice guitar is more than enough for her at this point.

Good luck to all the shoppers, I hope there are good sales this season!
We have decided to stop shopping for my family in particular (we don’t see his). Every year we try to avoid this but get roped in. This year is the year! No gifts but they are coming to visit in early December. And we are doing experiences around DC, will be the new tradition. My mother will still bring gifts after we told her not to, but everyone else will follow the rules.
I’m hoping after 3-5years of this she will drop it. She’s such a shopper but she buys junk. And telling her to take it back will go over too poorly. The gifts I have appreciated the most are gift bags of favorite deodorant, the rest goes to the Goodwill.
I’m gifting my husband a trip to Italy, we leave just before Christmas for two weeks. And I scored business class for $ back when Covid was really really bad. He won’t know until we hit the airport, he just knows he needs time off. Excited!
DS (8)- digital clock for his room (maybe a Hatch?), Roblox, clothes, chapter books, Minecraft everything- coins in his stocking, books, Lego crafting box; gum, snacks, bath bombs, minifigs, toothbrush, etc. in his stocking
DD (13)- new alarm clock (probably a Hatch, MS wake up time is early and painful), literary insults poster, We Rate Dogs calendar, books from her list of a million she wants, clothes; bookstore GC, gum, snacks, shower steamers, toothbrush, earbuds, etc. in her stocking. Some of this may end up as birthday presents in Nov though, so need more ideas, sigh.
DH- some clothes and stocking stuffers, maybe a couple of books. Mostly going to try to get him onboard with polywood adirondack chairs for our new patio as gifts to each other, lol.
No idea for my parents, a couple of aunts, or my sister and her family yet. I skipped gifts for the rest of my extended family last year and no one seemed offended so I'm doing that again this year. If that changes, I'll probably do family night boxes with inexpensive card/board games or puzzles and a tin of gourmet popcorn.
E will be 8.5, she's getting a ton of HP stuff, like clothes/PJs/socks, and some stuff for our upcoming Universal Trip. Maybe another nintendo switch game.
Stocking will be hair chalk, pop-its, and TBD.
Always a few books.
DH I have no clue. He's so hard to shop for. I told him to get a new bike for his birthday, but he keeps repairing his 20+ year old one instead. I think they're going to stop making parts for it though, lol.

Nephew (18 months) - a sit and spin, felt play food, board book, Bluey bath toys Nephew (newborn) - aardvark taggy, felt play food, board book, kick toy Mom - fancy snow boots so hopefully she can enjoy winter a bit more and stay warm Sister - no clue BIL - no clue, but I'd love some book recs for a 60 ish year old man who is mostly liberal and enjoys history
DS (3.5) has been asking for a train with tracks and a remote control (his exact words) so we will be getting him that, plus some books, clothes, puzzles and maybe another small toy.
DD (1.5) will be getting a pottery barn anywhere chair (DS already has one and DD is obsessed with it and DS thinks DD should ask Santa for that since she can’t talk lol.) Probably a doll as well, some books and clothes.
We may get the kids the Little Cedar playhouse & sandbox for Christmas as a big joint gift (we normally wouldn’t spend this much) since it’s the only play structure that’ll fit in our tiny city yard.
DH - new wireless headphones, an android watch and some clothes.
DD is 10 and I have no clue. She will get some new clothes and....
DH's nephew 6 will get a game and a book
My BFF's kiddos who are more nieces and nephews than the family one. I'm sending a check for open skate along with hat and gloves. My BFF is expecting and this will allow her H to take the big kids 5, 7, 10 to the skating rink to open skate on Saturdays to give her some downtime. The skating rink doesn't do gift certificates which is why a check.
