BQ: For runners, have you ever tried to quality for the Boston Marathon? For everyone else-have you ever tried to qualify for a big race, national championship, etc?
Friday: Off Saturday: 70 minute easy ride with pre-race sprints Sunday: 2 CX races
BQ: Because of my category/ranking I qualify for any USA Cycling Masters National Championships. I've won 12 medals in the last few years on the track/velodrome. I've competed about 6-7 times at the Cyclocross National Championships.
Fri - biked 2.6 mi Sat - nothing Sun - ran about 6 mi, played 4 square with my kids for about an hour
BQ - I’m nowhere near a Boston caliber runner. Of the four marathons that I’ve done, my PR was still something like 45 minutes shy of qualifying at the age I was. I was decently fast in cc and at the mile in high school. I won a lot of meets then, and I think had our school’s cross country record (and maybe the mile) for a time? I placed in about the top ten percent at a few regional meets, but I peaked as a runner at age 14/15, and it’s been downhill ever since! I competed nationally several times as a teenager in a multi sport horse involved competition (and did well in a few individual events), and I really enjoyed those experiences. However, I don’t recall what the qualifications were aside from competing regionally first and whether your family could afford for you to show up… 🧐
I am pretty sure my younger daughter at least is going to be able to beat my running times someday, and I can’t wait to see that happen.

I’m still recovering from my marathon the previous weekend.
Friday: Easy 5 mile run Saturday: Easy 6 mile run + strength Sunday: Peloton ride, walk outside, strength
BQ: I’ve never tried to BQ, or thought about it. My marathon times have been pretty far off of my BQ times. But if I’m doing the math correctly, I think I age up next fall, and I would “only” need to drop 5 minutes from my time this year to qualify (plus a few extra minutes to make it under the cutoff). My BQ time will be 3:50, and I just ran a 3:54. So maybe it will be a future goal, if I stay healthy. A bunch of my friends are in Boston this weekend, and it looks like a fun time.
Fri - 2.75 mile run + 30 min strength Sat - 20 mile outdoor bike Sun - 45 min Peloton cycle
BQ: Nope. When I was running races in my late 20's, I wouldn't have been fast enough to qualify. I don't run as much now, but my pace hasn't really slowed, so maybe? Its kind of moot because I am not that interested anymore nor to I have time to commit to proper marathon training right now. Never say never though!

Fri: rest Sat: 3 mile walk at the beach Sun: ran 10 brutal, sunny, hot miles
BQ: Hahahahahahahaa! I am nowhere near fast enough to BQ. My fastest marathon is 4:24 and I have to be at 3:40 to qualify. I will never get that fast. I’m ok with that, I’ll just keep running Chicago, which is my all time favorite anyway 😊
I've never tried to qualify for the Boston Marathon. I think some day I might shoot for a 3:30 marathon if i really pushed it (m40-44 cutoff is about 3:10, current half marathon pr is 1:46). My other goal is sub-seed at the Peachtree Road Race, which was 39:00 this year for a 10k (my 5k pr is 22:27, 10k 45:48)
F: rest Sat: 4 miles + strength Sun: more rest *also still recovering from my marathon so took it easy last week.
BQ: I would looooove to qualify for Boston. My PR is 4:01 though and I believe my age group is 3:35 for qualifying, so for now I’m just setting a goal of sub-3:55.
