I finished The Woman with the Blue Star by Pam Jenoff,2* I don't think Jenoff is an author that works for me. and The Stolen Hours by Allen Eskens, 4*. I just picked up The Day the World Came to Town by Jim Defede to read next.
QOTW: I saw an old guy fall into a well today! I guess he couldn't see that well.
I'm also reading State of Terror. It's definitely good and I am enjoying all the references to the horrible previous president that is clearly based on Trump. Plus a dig at Putin.
ETA: I'm also amused because I share a not terribly common last name with one of the characters.
QOTW: What do you get from a pampered cow? Spoiled milk!
The Very Nice Box by Laura Blackett and Eve Gleichman
Truffle Hound: On the Trail of the World’s Most Seductive Scent, with Dreamers, Schemers, and Some Extraordinary Dogs by Rowan Jacobsen
I Know You by Claire McGowan
I'll Be You by Janelle Brown
QOTW:
This one is from my husband’s grandfather. When he was in the hospital, a nurse came in and asked if he was comfortable. He said “Well, I make a living”.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn - 4*, really enjoyed this though I thought the part relating to the title was the least interesting part of the book
State of Terror - 3*, just finished today and only thought it was ok. I really like Louise Penny's "cozy mystery" type series because the characters are so interesting and realistic, which I can't really say about this book. The plot was well paced and realistic but I actually really didn't enjoy the character that was an obvious stand in for Trump, because ugh, don't need that reminder. But that could be just me.
QOTW: What does a chicken say when he sees lettuce? Chicken sees a salad.
