The ability to book boosters for Moderna & JnJ is live on Walgreens site now.
Anyone have thoughts on what a JnJ initial shot person should get? I’ve got both Moderna & Pfizer in my area.
My H and I both got J&J and we are getting Moderna boosters on Sunday at CVS.
Just an FYI for CVS, when I booked this morning it still said they were waiting on guidance, but when I clicked book appointment it was all set up properly.
Yes but I’m unclear on the actual dosing I’ll get. That study had full dose of Moderna, 100 micrograms, not the “half dose” booster.
So if “boosters” are approved for JnJ, the half dose of Moderna hasn’t been tested w JnJ
Yeah, as someone who had J&J, I wish I could get a full Moderna booster since that’s what the study was for. There doesn’t seem to be any guidance on whether a full Pfizer or half Moderna booster would be better. It feels like you’re gambling that the half Moderna will still perform better than the full Pfizer, but that hasn’t been studied at all.

If anyone is planning to go to a Walgreens today be prepared for chaos. I got my shot but the tech behind the counter looked aghast when I said I had an appt for a booster after a J&j shot. The pharmacist knew what was going on, but it was a little crazy. Corporate clearly hadn’t prepped them for this roll out yet.
Just filled out my online form for work to attest I'm fully vaccinated. Boss said to wait on the card until he knows where they want us to store the data. It really seems to be coming down to vaccinated or have personnel action start.

H got J&J for his first dose back in April and just signed up to get a Moderna booster this afternoon! He's excited to get an mRna one. Fingers crossed he doesn't have a ton of side effects. He realizes maybe he should have waited until Sunday so he didn't feel crappy on Sat. Oh well.
That’s even with the Moderna booster being a half dose?
A half dose of Moderna contains a larger dose of mRNA than a full dose of Pfizer. It was three times the Pfizer dose initially if I remember correctly.

I’m trying to figure something out re boosters. If someone got a 3rd shot because they were immunocompromised, are they still supposed to get a booster 6 months later? Or are they done?

I did see that but I wasn’t sure if they were directly comparable in that way. I should probably try to find the Moderna booster study and see what that looks like. I just wish FDA/CDC had authorized what had actually been studied. I already feel like I made a mistake getting J&J in the first place, I don’t want to mess up the booster 😂

Ha’! I’m in Canada so I had Pfizer then Moderna and our entire country is a vaccine mish mash because the government wanted shots in arms as fast as possible. Basically none of the studies mean anything!

That’s true! My mom said that either mRNA booster will be better than nothing. I need to just schedule something 😂
We can't get boosters until exactly 6 months after our second shot. Ugh. I can't get my booster until December.
If it makes you feel better, I was one of the first to get my shots (dec/Jan), and just finally got my booster today because I had moderna and had to wait.
So, just had to trust that my vaccine was still working. I know a lot of nurses who ended up getting covid who are vaccinated. None got super sick but definitely a lot of breakthrough cases.

I’m curious about this too. I got a third dose of the full Moderna shot in August. So will I need another one in February?

I'm getting my Pfizer booster on Sunday morning. When I booked it, I figured that was a perfect time since Monday is a company holiday, but now I'm getting worried it's going to interfere with my plans to go see Dune.

It's the same here, except that even six months after the second shot the only people who qualify are those who have certain medical conditions, those 65 and over, and people with certain jobs.
We are more than 6 months out from our second shots, but don't qualify yet. We just missed on the age thing, so now we will just wait and hope that something changes and we can get our boosters sooner rather than later.

I qualify based on my covid 10/BMI. I think if you’ve ever been a smoker, you qualify as well. I smoked for like 3 weeks in my dumb early 20s, so there you go.
That was gonna be my point, everyone I know is qualifying one way or another and I don’t think they care other than being exactly 6 months out.
This makes me feel better. Could my excuse be that I live in a red area where everyone feels like a danger to my health? I definitely would not be taking a booster spot that someone else wanted.
I had debated having my PCP finally diagnose my slightly above average blood pressure, but TX doesn't count that as a reason for the 3rd pfizer shot.
In Dubai, I'm still not approved. You have to be over 60 or have autoimmune disorder. I'm over 7 months from my second shot and getting a bit nervous. The health dept here keeps saying there is no recommendation for people to get it otherwise, and I'm like...uh, yes, there is.
Part of me just wants to walk in like I haven't had any of the shots, since I still haven't paid the $20 to get my overseas vaccination card uploaded to their national system app (you guys, I can't even with some of the shit over here), but I'm afraid it's going to mess up that documentation when I do get around to it. Maybe I'll contact the embassy to see if there's a way to get it.
