I’m 6 months out, but have no health conditions that would qualify me and I WFH fully remote until January and even then I’m not public facing. I have booster FOMO lol.
I'm not eligible (here in CA, at this time). And while I'll march right in the moment I am, I'm not going to jump the gun.
I'm glad to be in a position by age and other health factors that precludes eligiblity right now. The idea of losing a week each year to vaccine recovery is depressing. (my second shot led to 3 days in bed with fever. If we are on a perpetual 6 month booster schedule with similar effect, that will suck. I' m hoping they'll recommend once a year for me at least until I get a higher risk categories).

Update on moderna #3 for me.
It was not as bad as shot number 2 for me. I didn’t sleep very well, I kept waking up SO HOT, and then freezing. Ans tossed and turned quite a bit. Woke up at like 130, chugged a Gatorade and went back to sleep.
I woke up this morning feeling pretty good though, and just have a sore arm.
Another update on #3 Moderna. A little nausea and headache before bed last night in addition to the super sore arm. But I’m pretty good to go this morning.

Moderna after J&J - it’s been about 24 hours. I was sooo tired yesterday starting about 6 hours after the shot. Arm hurts more than my first shot but not unbearable. Still a little tired - I actually feel like I could lie down for a nap and I never ever nap during the day. Otherwise not too bad.

I was pretty sick after shot 2, got the booster and it’s not as bad for me. My arm feels like it’s gonna fall off but no fever or chills, just slight general malaise. This was all moderna.
Yes. I was honestly nervous as hell about shot number 3 based on my first two.
But it’s been no big deal. If I have to get additional boosters, I won’t even worry.
I suppose if they change the vaccine a little to account for new variants, I suppose I’ll expect a bigger response. But #3 was nothing like 1 or 2!

Keep in mind the Moderna booster is a half dose. Maybe that’s why we all seem to be having less reaction. Pointing that out in case it makes someone less nervous.
That was gonna be my point, everyone I know is qualifying one way or another and I don’t think they care other than being exactly 6 months out.
This makes me feel better. Could my excuse be that I live in a red area where everyone feels like a danger to my health? I definitely would not be taking a booster spot that someone else wanted.
I had debated having my PCP finally diagnose my slightly above average blood pressure, but TX doesn't count that as a reason for the 3rd pfizer shot.
I got my booster at CVS and they really don't care if you meet the criteria or not. You have to answer "yes" to a question about qualifying, but you are not required to provide proof of qualifications.
I was initially J&J and this afternoon walked in to a Walmart and they gave me Moderna (I went with what you fellow J&Jers said upthread, rather than Pfizer, thanks for making the decision for me! 🙂). I’m about four hours out, have a sore arm, and am thinking I’ll go to bed early tonight.
I didn’t have to wait at all. The pharmacist said they had done about 40 boosters yesterday and around 3pm today, I was roughly number 30. Before I left there were more people lined up.

I got my Pfizer booster shot last night. For the first two shots I had minimal side effects, felt maybe a bit groggy the day after the second shot. But today after the third shot I felt tired, nauseous, had a headache and had chills. I spent most of the morning in bed, but did get up later. I hope I feel better tomorrow.
I asked my PCM about getting a booster and he said he didn’t think I need one. I’m 40 and my only risk factor is BMI. Work has a vaccine mandate (not sure what our exact numbers are, but we should be 95+% fully vaxxed by next week). He thinks the military will recommend people get a booster in Feb, so I guess I’ll wait and see.
I’m 8 hours out from moderna. I took Advil right after. Very sore arm, slight headache, and my joints hurt like crazy but so far, nothing like my first two doses.

My long hauler neighbor was on ECMO at HCMC for 8 weeks. In his 40's.
He came off ECMO 3 weeks ago but is still on a ventilator. But is now alert.
Now they are transferring him to a different hospital that the family described as "experts at getting people off ventilators".
What does that mean?
My dad went through this process about 10 years ago when he had two catastrophic health events 2 days apart and ended up on a vent for 3 weeks. In my dads case, it was a long process, he started in the ICU. When he improved, he moved to a “step-down unit” that was still high level care but not ICU level. When he improved more, he was “transferred” to a vent hospital. Transferred is in quotes because in our case (abut not always) the vent hospital was housed in the same hospital he was already at. Below is a link for Select Specialty Hospital Corp, which is the hospital that did my dad’s care, in case you want to read more about what they do. In my dad’s case, Select Specialty Hospital leased a floor inside the hospital my dad was at. SSH occupied all of 4th Floor West so his “transfer” was essentially a ride in the elevator. But technically, he was discharged from the main hospital then admitted to a different hospital. After he was weened off the vent at SSH, he then moved to a residential rehab center, even that had to be a specially licensed rehab center because he was on such a high concentration of oxygen that it had to be delivered through lines in the wall as opposed to a potable unit. At that rehab center, he got PT, PT and Speech (Swallowing) therapy. From the time he began the process of weening off the vent at SSH and all subsequent residential therapies until the time he actually stepped foot in his own home again was 3 1/2 months.
If you’re asking “why” this happened, it’s because my dad no longer required acute medical intervention, he was starting the rehab phase of his treatment. For whatever reason, the hospital decided it was not a part of their business model to provide those services directly so they outsourced it. Once he was considered a rehab patient and not a medical patient, Medicare/insurance moved him down the continuum of care as quickly as possible. The reason for the interim stay at SSH is because he did not meet the criteria to go directly to a rehab facility. As, I recall, the vent caused damage to his esophagus so he could not swallow, which led to him being on a feeding tube. The rehab facility could not accommodate a feeding tube which necessitated his stay at SSH until his esophagus healed. Also, he needed to be able to maintain a pulse oximeter reading of 95 during physical therapy before they would take him. He was above 95 while resting, but it took a while before he could maintain that while exerting himself.
Even though my dad’s cause was not Covid, I would imagine his recovery would be very similar to what A long hauler might be looking at so your friend might be looking at a similar time frame.

BMI is enough of a qualifier per the CDC.
Yeah, I asked about that. This was the same doc who was a jerk about my weight before, and he actually said that due to my cardiovascular and pulmonary health being well above average, it reduces my risk enough that he didn’t think my BMI alone was a reason to rush out and get the booster. Um, okay? I’m not really sure what to think about this.

BMI was my only qualifier and all my other vitals and such are normal but I still got the booster. The evidence is clear that covid does impact people with higher BMIs more severely so I wanted to make sure my body was as prepared as possible to prevent severe disease. It’s up to you but don’t feel any kind of doubt or guilt about getting the booster now or soon.
I spoke too soon. Last night and this morning have been brutal. Fever, headache, chills, so much aching. I feel awful and couldn’t sleep at all last night.

Was yours a third moderna? Or a moderna after J&J?
I got my Moderna booster yesterday around 1pm. I had Moderna for my first two, got the second shot on March 6th. I felt fine all day yesterday but got really sleepy and a bit achy around 9 last night and went to bed early. Today the lymph node that reacted after my second shot is swollen and tender to the touch again. I feel pretty ok; I would have gone to work had it been a workday, but I don’t have my normal amount of energy.

Your reaction sounds like my second moderna.
Third Moderna. I had some reaction to the first two but nothing like this. Thankfully, it's passing.

My husband got his Moderna booster late on Friday afternoon (we both got J&J originally). He couldn’t sleep at all on Friday night, and he was a mess yesterday afternoon- achy, chills, exhausted. Not sure how much exhaustion played into it (we had family here on Saturday morning, so he couldn’t rest) or just a reaction to the shot, but today it’s like nothing ever happened. I’ve been trying to figure out when to schedule mine based on how he felt, but just said eff it and booked the first appointment that worked for me at lunchtime this coming Thursday. I work from home on Fridays, so I’m hoping I can just ride it out working from bed if I need to.

We are home from getting our Moderna booster (original shots were J & J. We’ll see how it goes with side effects. My H already thinks he’s having side effects so this should be a fun night. I really hope he doesn’t have bad side effects.

Keep us updated! I also got J&J and am planning on a moderna booster. I know everyone is different but I’m curious how you do!

Me, too. My mom and I both got our Moderna booster on Friday morning and Saturday night we had low grade fevers, chills. It was similar to after the second dose but not as bad. And I’m fine today.
