I’m reading Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki. Quirky and not, all at once, which is challenging to explain. I’m enjoying it.
QOTW: I don’t love dressing up, but I’ve always liked the over the top, IMO, costumes from Chasing Fireflies. They’re kid sizes, but I want a grown up version of this one: www.chasing-fireflies.com/products/celestial-goddess-costume-for-girls I cannot imagine spending that much on Halloween. My mom sewed, which helped, but we always had homemade costumes, nothing fancy for one night.
I read: - Project Hail Mary: 4 stars. I really enjoyed it. The middle was a little long and I didn’t love the ending but overall I enjoyed it. - While We Were Dating. Fun fluff. Exactly what I expected it to be. - Just started Wait For It.
QOTW: I love dressing up but I can’t think of anything good.
I had a good week. I really enjoyed the books I read. I finished: The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland by Jim DeFede 5* and Sparks Like Stars by Nadia Hashimi, 4*
I really enjoyed The Day the World Came to Town. It was uplifting and interesting. I never thought of all the problems the travelers and flight crew faced. It was one of those books that I couldn't help, but talk to my husband about while reading. I also really liked Sparks like Stars, but I had an issue with a transition or lack there of in the middle of the book.
I'm currently reading Cloud Cuckoo Land.
QOTW: I really enjoy making sure my kids enjoy their costumes. This year I visited multiple thrift stores in order to pull together my daughter's Elizabeth Afton costume. I usually pick something easy for myself because I don't have much fun thinking up my own costumes.
I'm reading The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune and struggling a bit to stay interested. I think it's just a little too heartwarming for my taste.
QOTW: I've wanted to dress up as Lagertha from Vikings for years. Unfortunately all the costumes are either very expensive or look cheap.
I’m currently re-reading An Echo in the Bone but skipping the heavily military parts because I disliked them the first time. I also finished the audio of Small Fry earlier this week.
QOTW: I would love to dress up in a big complicated dress and fancy hair, either something fantastical or historical. I follow some accounts on Instagram that make their own historical clothes, that is impressive!
I finished The Winter of the Witch (3rd book in Katherine Arden's trilogy) and liked it. I am now reading Caste for book club. It is very interesting though obviously not a light read.
QOTW: hmm, I don't know! I often don't dress up (no real occasion to do so). Might be fun to wear a huge historical gown that I would never have opportunity to do (or desire to pay for) IRL.
ETA I swear I hadn't read mrspez07's post right above mine before posting. Maybe I saw it subconsciously!
It was a week or so ago, but I finished Why We Swim by Bonnie Tsui, and I really liked it. I’ve been swimming more this year than I have I since I was a teenager so it felt like a timely read.
I don’t really do dressing up or costumes but I did wear my wedding dress around the house for our anniversary not that long ago, does that count? 😛
I'm reading The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune and struggling a bit to stay interested. I think it's just a little too heartwarming for my taste.

That book was so saccharine to me! I really disliked it for that reason.
I read Double Indemnity by James Cain - a classic noir which has a good plot but it definitely shows it's age.
QOTW: I think I would choose to have an exact replica of Big Bird's costume. It's so universally recognizable, is really big, and who doesn't love Big Bird? Would probably get hot in Florida, but it would be worth it LOL

It's way too cutesy and just overly blunt with its message of acceptance and family. Be a little more subtle TJ.
I'm currently re-reading The Underground Railroad for book club. It wouldn't normally be the type of book I'd want to re-read, but it's been too long since I read it the first time to be able to properly discuss it.
QOTW: This is hard, because I do like to dress up sometimes, but I haven't really dressed up in years. I guess if I don't have to be practical, Daenerys Targaryen with an actual real dragon I could ride around on.

I can't remember if I posted since I finished Project Hail Mary and too lazy to look. But it was SO GOOD. I definitely recommend it!
I have 3 books sorta going right now: Artemis (audio book) The Inheritance Of Orquídea Divina @@@ The Explosive Child (my 6 year old has ODD/ADHD tendencies, though no official diagnosis)
QOTW: This is hard.. I think Sansa or Arya from GoT, or a superhero like Black Widow. Something cool looking, lol.
