So, Neil Patrick Harris is on The Talk. He said twice that we find out he and Robin end up together. Did he give away something that hasn't happened yet or am I totally blanking on something that happened last season?
The clip they showed was him talking to Quinn, so not sure what he was referencing.
Thanks! I guess I did block it out. I remember the Ted storyline, with him drivng off with that girl but somehow I forgot the reveal of Robin as the bride.
the writers have confirmed that the wedding does actually happen (although we haven't seen the wedding happen yet).
many people are saying "oh we don't know that they actually go THROUGH with it" but the writers have confirmed they do.
In one of the later episodes of this past season, they showed the three guys in 2015 (the one where Ted came in holding his new baby daughter) and Barney was hiding his left hand so viewers couldn't see if he was wearing a wedding ring or not.
So, yeah, they don't want us to know if Robin and Barney's marriage actually lasts.
Side note: The creators give away a ton of hints for the future episodes whenever they're interviewed. I know it's my own fault for reading spoilers, but even for spoilers I think it's way too much info.
I'm also hoping they wrap it up this season. I don't want them to go to Season 9+.

They def need to wrap it up because Marshall (whatever his real name is, I can't think of at the moment) has said this is his last season. I can't imagine a way they could continue without him.

The premiere was only OK for me to. The glimmer of hope is that we only have to wrap up the Ted/Victoria and Barney/Quinn ---> Robin storyline and get through to after the wedding. The mother is now right there on the train platform the evening of Barney and Robin's wedding, so I'm hoping we start wrapping things up and getting this finalized.

I am not good at keeping up with all the clues...but when the mother gets out of the cab, she has a guitar...does that give us any clue?? she is a musician, and it is someone he had met or heard about before? can someone give me some background?

Ted briefly dated a girl named Cindy who was a student at Columbia (not in his class though), then she broke it off so she wouldn't lose her scholarship for dating a professor.
He went to Cindy's apartment to try and change her mind, and he kept picking up things that were lying around and saying how cool they were - his favorite CD, a book, and a bass guitar (which he said he always pictured his dream girl being able to play). Then Cindy said they all belonged to her roommate, and Future Ted told the kids that the roommate ended up being The Mother. Cindy mentioned that the roommate was in a band but refused to introduce Ted to her since she was jealous. His only glimpse of her was a shot of her foot as she went into the bathroom while he was heading out the front door.
Ted had also taken The Mother's yellow umbrella (which he found at the nightclub where that Saint Patrick's Day party was) to Cindy's apartment when he went to talk to her, and wound up forgetting it there, so that's how The Mother got her umbrella back after she'd left it behind at the club (she was at the same party but they never met).
So the guitar she took out of the trunk is the bass that Ted had admired in her apartment a few years ago.

See, the continued tease of the mother is just getting infuriating now. That part pissed me off. I mean, are we goign to have to go through this WHOLE season before we find out who she is? As others have said, after all this, it will be really annoying if the show ends with them basically finally showing her face and then future Ted is like "... And that's how I met your mother, kids. The end!"
I will be so annoyed that I watched all the drama for all those years and THAT is the only payout.

Do you think that Ted will meet the mother and we will "meet her" for an episode or will he just say "hello" and the whole series will end because that is "how I met your mother"

I think they will finally meet on the train platform, play sappy music, their eyes will meet and Ted will say "hi" and then it will cut to the future and be the end. Which will piss me off.
I actually wouldn't mind if we never see The Mother's face or get to know her, because I don't think there's any possible way any actress/character can live up to eight years of hype.
It'll be irritating not to get a payout, sure, but I think the show risks a lot of pissed-off fans if they introduce her and she's a shitty actress (*cough* Quinn) and/or she's got no chemistry with Ted and the gang. They have to be REALLY careful if they plan to cast someone in a speaking role.
I've heard that the episode with Barney and Robin's wedding will be the season finale. IDK how true that is, but the season finales for this show are usually two-part episodes so maybe they'll introduce her in part 1 and we'll get to know her a bit in part 2.

If there's been 8 seasons and it ends with just showing the mom's face...omg, that would actually be kind of awesome because the fan sites would explode.
It reminds me of this book my older son has - it's like 15 pages of trying to find the kid's dinosaur, he goes to the zoo, a museum, blah blah, and on the very last page he finds him and the text is "a dinosaur's a kid's best friend, but hide and seek is hard. The End." lol
