Does anyone want to talk me out of marble? I'm already committed to a marble mosaic floor, but I'm considering using it on the walls and the shower. DH is nervous and has read articles saying it's super high maintenance....
I guess the alternative would be a porcelain marble look alike....or something else (but I'm hitting extreme decision fatigue on this whole reno ) ETA for PIPs: I reeeaaallly wanted glass tile too, but I'm concerned it'll be too many things in one space Fixtures are polished nickel. The square is the shower floor porcelain tile, the pattern is the marble floor tile
Here's the marble I had picked (though maybe not....maintenance )
Here's a pic of the floor tile on the vanity (which has a quartz top)
We had a ritz grey marble basket weave tile floor in the hall bathroom in our old house. It was 3 years old in a very heavy-use bathroom (it was our only full bath) when we sold the house, and I didn't come to regret marble in that time period. We didn't do any special maintenance on it.

No experience inside the shower though.
That's good to hear. I think I'm already convinced in the shower is going to be more work than I'm willing to accept I did pick a slightly textured porcelain tile for the floor.
We have travertine on our shower walls and floor. It seems similar to marble as far as maintenance and I was also really nervous about choosing it. Almost 8 years later and it still looks great. After every shower, I take my towel and wipe the floor and walls dry. That’s it as far as special maintenance. I would choose it again.

We have a marble hex tile in our shower floor. It's only been about three years but it looks really good. I do color my hair in the upstairs bath just in case. However, I started using a "color depositing" shampoo (Brilliant Brunette) and was a little worried about whether it might stain the tile, but I haven't seen any issues.
I think that large marble floor tiles could be problematic. We had 12x12 beige marble floor tiles in our old bathroom and they were horrible. Every little lotion, spray, cleaner, etc left spots on the floor and they never looked clean because they were so etched. A very small tile might work better.
I’m no help, as I think your choices are gorgeous! I also don’t think marble is as high maintenance as it’s made to sound. My go to response is that it’s been used as a building material for centuries & I personally love the patina it takes on.
Hi I have marble in my shower--walls and shower floor--and it's fine. I love it and it's gorgeous. Ours is honed carrara (sp?). The place that I don't love marble is our bathroom countertops. It gets "etched" really easily by my contact solution or soap or even just soapy water that gets flicked onto the counter during the course of the day. I wipe the counter down if I notice that I have made a big mess, but it's the little things I don't notice until after the fact that create the damage. The damage is subtle, but I find it annoying. And it's something you wouldn't notice in a shower (IMO).
I'm not sure how marble floor tile would be. Your choices are really beautiful!

We put in a marble primary bathroom with marble floors, walls and shower. I was nervous about it, but it’s been almost a year and I still think it’s gorgeous. We do have a couple of etches on the marble vanity countertop but I really don’t notice them much.
