In mid 2019 I got a quote for my office and it was roughly at $1k-got an updated quote yesterday and it’s now 2k. The space isn’t that big (9x13)-doesn’t that seem crazy high?
update-I went to a local carpet place which I thought was going to be even more expensive and I was able to get decent Shaw carpet with a pattern I liked better for $1k. The customer service was awesome too! Score!
Between product shortages, labor shortages, and high demand, it's probably about right. I receive emails from manufacturers almost every week these days letting me know about price increases, and quotes for construction are coming in a lot higher than usual too.
Yes that is insanely high. I’m getting ready to replace flooring too and am dreading the quotes. I should have replaced when I originally wanted to back in 2020.

I sell flooring - that’s insanely expensive, unless you’re going with a wool carpet or something really high end. Most of the carpet I sell is $4-$6/sf installed.

We just paid $3800 for 1100 sqft including very complicated stairs. It's a really nice nylon Shaw Softbac carpet with a color "defect" that I literally cannot see. I would say to keep shopping around. This was a smaller discount warehouse type of place. The quotes from Home Depot and big carpet stores was 7-8k (still a lot cheaper per foot than the quote you're getting).
