Highly recommend In Blue HandmadeΒ for handmade leather bags, even custom ordered if you are trying to accommodate a laptop or workbag of some sort.
They are female, black owned in Asheville, NC. I bought a bag earlier this year. It is well made and I constantly get compliments on it!
ETA - they also donate 50 meals to food shelters with every purchase.Β
Thanks for sharing. So many cute bags and hats on their site and I live 5 min away. I didn't know it was there.
I purchased a checkbook cover from their Etsy shop in 2013. It still looks almost new and has been in my purse or backpack since 2013. I didnβt realize they moved and now have a showroom. Iβm glad their business has continued to grow and that they are giving back to the community.
LOVE!!!! Definitely putting some of these ring dishes on my wishlist.
I bought one of her ring dishes and I love it. I use it for hair ties but it's really versatile. If you follow her on IG she sometimes has flash sales, too. I've been tempted by many of them
Sun and Selene- Black woman owned. I have two of her rings (Opalina and Nike) and they are stunning. I have a necklace on my wishlist.
Hello Allison Art- Black woman owned. I have an original of hers and hope to get more. Difficult to buy because she tends to release in small batches, but if you like her style, it's worth keeping an eye out.
HoneyMilk- Black woman owned. delicious smelling soaps and stuff. I've only done her bar soaps and have been happy with the ~8-9 scents I've tried.
Phoenix Art shop- I bought a sound wave art piece for H for Christmas. It's of a song that reminds him of his deceased father. Anto, the owner, was amazing to work with and the piece is beautiful.
Uncommon Goods isnβt a small shop but they do carry items from a lot of smaller places and I can always find a gift for a hard to shop for person there.
The two men who own it graduated with my sister and are a married couple - theyβve made their shop a safe space for LGBTQIA youth and others in the community who otherwise may not have one.
If youβre ever in southeast Kansas, I recommend stopping by - they also sell a variety of things from local artisans from pottery to decorations and more.
This shop is awesome! Definitely give it a visit, especially during Neewollah! π
No online presence besides FB, but if any of you live in/near Cincinnati, my cousin has a gift shop where she ONLY sources items from women/minority/POC artisans
