Having you avoided taking antihistamines for at least a week prior to your testing? They may do RAST blood testing in addition to the skin test, that sometimes gives a different picture of things.
Mostly. He told me to avoid them for 72 hours, but I just stopped taking them the day he told me that, so it was more like 5 days, maybe 6 (because I can't remember if I took any the day of the telehealth appointment).
He thinks given my symptoms that what I'm actually reacting to is smoke (we've had a lot of bad forest fire smoke the past couple of summers here on the west coast) and barometric pressure changes. Some of my more annoying symptoms are pressure behind my eye and a sort of fluttering in my ear drum, but only during certain parts of the year.
It turns out I can actually use current nasal spray with much greater frequency than I currently am, and that sinus rinses can help too, so we're going to keep my same meds, and just up the spray and do the rinses as needed. (I had done those more regularly but stopped because I find them kind of tedious.) It's also a thing that sudafed can help, but sudafed makes my mouth itch, so that's a no go.
My dust mite reaction also means that when we finally get around to our house remodel that getting rid of our carpet will be a good idea.
It's so frustrating! My H also suffers greatly during the New England allergy seasons but he too was negative for everything on skin testing. He uses the nasal sprays, rinses etc and they do help some but he still gets a ton of post-nasal drip which causes him to cough a lot. In a post-Covid world people who don't know him give him a pretty wide berth!!
I caught a cold from my kids and feel like garbage. I slept horribly last night. Not a great way to start the work week.
Same here. The is the first time I have been sick since March 2020. I ended up calling out of work and slept an additional 2 hours after the kids went to school.
I hope you feel better soon!
I hope you do too! I’ve had a pretty productive day, but I’m hitting a wall. So tired.
Gah, I was asked to do a 2nd/final interview for a job. Yay! I am excited. But, this week is SUPER busy and next week is only marginally better. We've been going back and forth on trying to find a time for it, and it seems like the only time that works is 5pm tomorrow. Sandwiched in between an interview I am sitting in on at work and my class, so I am going to be on campus at my work during that time. I don't know where to have the interview! I told the hiring manager I would figure out a way to make it work and warned her I'd be on campus, so I don't think it will be weird, but also I am kind of stumped. I don't have my own office so I will need to go somewhere, and preferably somewhere not within my department as it is likely there will still be coworkers there.
I emailed one of my professors to see if she has any ideas in her building. Hopefully I am showing great adaptability and flexibility here lol. It's not ideal.
The builder was selling some stuff from the model homes now that the neighborhood is done. I went to pick up 2 things I got, and they had a bunch of other accessories they were selling. I got frames, fake plant, bathroom accessories and tray for $30. What a steal!

It really is! When I got tested 11 years ago I had an extreme reaction to grass, and a moderate reaction to juniper, and then I did allergy shots for a couple of years before stopping. He thinks the allergy shots did help to tamp down those reactions, but I can watch the pollen counts and see that I'm reacting when they spike. I also have oral allergy syndrome reactions to kiwi (itchy mouth and numb lips), which is most likely caused by grass and tree pollens, so I'm clearly still allergic to those pollens despite what the skin prick tests say.
He also said that what you are allergic to can change over the years, which is why he wanted to redo the testing in the first place. I'm really sure I didn't react to dust mites at all a decade ago, so that's new.
Oh well... aside from being a pincushion today I'm not really any worse off than I was. I didn't really want to restart allergy shots (such a huge time commitment) and I react so oddly to allergy meds that I also didn't expect much of a change there either.
My husband never goes anywhere at all ever. I would love a week without him! My son had off from school today so I changed my work schedule to be home with him. It was great to not have to get up after the time change. We have to get up so much earlier for school this year so I've already been struggling with lack of sleep. But he also had half days last year and I had no qualms about him "missing" that so we had lots of time together. It was so nice to have him to myself today! We went to a sculpture garden and had so much fun.
I have a coworker who has a...strong...personality. He's pretty abrasive and loud and doesn't really get along with a lot of people. He's EXTREMELY intelligent at his job and with knowledge of our industry as a whole, so he's really a good asset to have in that regard. His people skills just absolutely suck. Well, one of our admins just put in her notice because of this coworker (she told me he's 90% of the reason why she's leaving). This now makes 3 people who have quit because of this coworker. I'm at a loss as to how this company still holds on to him with the turnover he creates.
Do we work at the same place?
I'm sorry you are losing people because of this guy. I know how much it sucks.
My fucking sister is letting me and more importantly, my boys, down again. She is supposed to babysit and give us our first kid free 24 hours in 2 years on Friday. Today she tells us “change of plans I can only do 18hours bc I made plans with friends”. Ya I know I should still be grateful she’s helping at all but now we have to change our plans because she is ditching the kids to go see her friends and their kids.
I’m sorry:( It really sucks she is changing the plans up so late. She will still have quality time with your boys, though:) I’m sure it feels very personal (and maybe there’s a history I don’t know about) but I wouldn’t take it as ditching your kids to see her friend’s kids.
The summary of the back story is that : ever since our mom got sick she has made plans and either cancelled or significantly changed them at the last minute. Normally to go spend time with our stepmom, sometimes her friends/their kids.
We even had to have a serious talking to her before ds2s bday where we told her that if she didn’t show up that time she wouldn’t be allowed to see them for a very very long time. She swore she wouldn’t flake again. And now this.
My husband is OOT this week to visit his parents, and my confession is that I've been looking forward to this for WEEKS because I can order whatever food I want and it's glorious. Last night he texted that he missed me and I didn't see it because I was focused on my delicious sushi, lol.
I just got a call from DS1's teacher gushing about what an amazing day he had and how his descriptive writing blew her away. You could tell from the sound of her voice how proud she was of him today. I think my mom heart burst. I'm just sitting here all verklempt and tearing up a little bit. lol
She's really a fantastic teacher and such a great fit for him and his personality. I feel like we got really lucky with him being in her class.

isabel and 1confused1 I too have a mild cold courtesy of the baby. It’s mild and I still feel awful because it’s the first time I’ve been sick since 2019.
DS2 is doing so much better lactose free! So far he seems to like almond-milk yogurt best. I’m not a fan of the cost of the lactose-free/dairy-free stuff but at least he doesn’t have disgusting diapers now.
I had to stand up to a colleague this afternoon. He came to me as a union rep with a complaint, but the fact is he’s in the wrong and had nothing real to stand on. He didn’t like me calling him on it.
I hate mystery smells. I woke up this morning and upon walking into my living room... noticed a funny smell. I cannot figure out what it is! I have emptied the trash ( not like trash sits for a long time anyway), opened the windows, sprayed Febreeze. I hope one of those gets rid of whatever the funky smell is.
My Uncle is having a heart procedure on Wed and I am so nervous. He was supposed to have neck surgery in Sept.. but he went AFIB in the OR. So now he needs to have a procedure on his heart to hopefully stop him from being in AFIB.
I hope the procedure goes well! I think my dad was supposed to have the same procedure a couple weeks ago, but when he showed up he was not in afib. Apparently his condition is like 80% normal and 20% afib and he goes in and out. It’s stressful to think about it, but I think he’s on some new meds to try and help.
It was the lunch line lol. I'm curious to hear what she has to say, but she's 6 and in the tall tales stage so it's hard to know what to believe. My first thought was maybe this boy has been getting under her skin for a bit and she kinda snapped on him, she hasn't mentioned anything about him bothering her though and she's usually quick to tell us if someone is. Even tougher is no one witnessed the actual exchange, just the fallout of him crying and having to go to the nurse. The teacher talked with her, she was very upset and said she didn't like him touching her shoulder, and she ended up apologizing for hitting him. Guess I'll see what we get out of her later!
*open to parenting advice on this talk with her btw! Do I let her know I'm not mad and just want to know what happened?*
I'm not a parent so take this for what it's worth but my first thought was good for her! You don't touch me without my consent and expect me to be ok with it. Sure, hitting isn't necessarily the right answer, but maybe it was just a reaction to someone inappropriately touching her and catching her off guard. I hope someone is talking to that little boy about keeping his hands to himself as well!
This, like what is the boy being told? Keep your hands to yourself!

Thank you! They had him on a heart monitor for two weeks, and my Aunt told me he was afib the whole time! Of course now I keep hearing afib commericals on the radio!
This is one I bought off a FB or Instagram ad. It does work well. I use it on our living room rug each week and the amount of hair I get up AFTER vacuuming is disgusting.
Do you remember/have emails to see how long it took for it to ship?
I emailed them a couple days ago and they haven't responded so now I'm wondering if they're legit. I ordered 11 days ago and then my dog died so I don't need this product anymore. 🙁
Ugh so I feel like an asshole now. When i responded, I had just googled and that looked like what I bought, but what I ACTUALLY bought was apparently this: lintrolled.com/
They’re fucking identical wtf. And the same “50% off” price/deal. I’m really sorry if I linked you to a scam site. PM me your Venmo and I’ll reimburse you, I’m serious.
