Painting kitchen cabinets

We have Home Depot stock cabinets in cherry. Don’t have enough money for a gut so thought about sprucing them up. We want to paint them a creamy white or maybe cream? Our countertops are a gold granite with brown flakes. Our kitchen is a light sage. I was thinking cream color with dark hardware. Any paint color suggestions and pics of those who did it?
