We are about to embark on a basement remodel, and my first order of business is to choose a shower insert so the plumber can properly run and measure the lines.
Other possibly important info: total space we are remodeling will be about 1000 square feet. The house already has 2.5 other bathrooms, only one of which has a tub. There will be no bedrooms in the basement, just a living room and bar area. It will mostly be used for family parties, and showering when we get out of the pool, or if we are hanging out in the basement of course.
I'm leaning toward shower only, but curious to see what others think. I'm only somewhat worried about resale value, as I plan to stay in this home until I can no longer maintain it, so give or take another 30 years.

I don’t think it matters one way or the other. Our basement bathroom is a tub shower, which has never been used as a bath. Maybe if we didn’t have a (freestanding) tub in the primary bath I would use the basement to bathe the dog.

We did tubs for all of our bathroom renovations because it ended up being cheaper (can use curtains versus glass doors, don't need as much tilework done, etc.). And I like having the option of baths if needed.

I have a shower stall in my master bath and definitely use a shower curtain. As long as there's a decent lip on the shower floor you can use a curtain. My TH (previous home) had glass doors on the master shower. If it hadn't been an unnecessary expense I would've 100% had the glass door removed. They are so much more work to clean.
Shower only. And agree with PP you can use a curtain. Whether it’s a stall curtain or a regular curtain depends on height and width of the shower ‘entry.’ I’d go with a curtain just for less cleaning needed.
Shower only, unless you need a place to bathe a dog or soak laundry/blinds and don’t want to use the other tub. I would also do a shower curtain...just make sure you account for that with your lighting.
Not having a tub at all in a home would be a tough sell for me, but as long as there’s one somewhere easily accessible from the bedrooms, I don’t think it matters either way.

I would do a shower only with as much glass as possible to make it look really open. I think mostly people really want a tub available for babies/kids and as long as you have one by the bedrooms that is sufficient.
