Hi! My company has their national meeting every year at Disney World and they are resuming it in March 2022. My H and I have always said that one year we’d extend my trip and bring the kids. This year the stars have aligned and my kids are the right ages (5,8,15) to enjoy and remember the trip, plus it’s their spring break the same week.
If we were able to swing it, we’re thinking I’d going Friday to Tuesday. Is that enough time? My meeting starts Tuesday morning so the family would fly home that day.
My flight would be free due to the work meeting and I would have access to a discounted room on a Disney property ($249/night), plus discounted park tickets through my company’s travel agency. In previous years we’ve stayed at Yacht & Beach Club, so it may be that property again.
What do I need to know before deciding to go through with this? We’re all vaccinated (is there a vaccine requirement?). Am I insane for considering this during spring break time, despite the discounts?
I think the spring break crowds are going to be spread out a little more this year because Easter is so late in April, which is why we’re headed there in March too! The timing was like this a few years ago when we went at the same time and it was crowded but totally manageable.
I would totally do it- especially with discounted room and tickets!
I would do it, but I would try to have more time! Can you fly in on Thursday, so you could get a partial day Thursday and a full day Friday? And/or, if they stayed another day with you would you have any time in the evening on Tuesday if your DH spend the day at the hotel pool or whatever? Or, would he want to take them to a park Tuesday on his own? Your 15 year old could help, but maybe that would be too weird for you to miss out on.

H and I talked about it again today and I think we might try to fly in on Thursday so we could do Friday/Saturday/Sunday as park days and then on Monday my welcome event isn't until 6pm so we could do the pool that day. The other thing to consider is that H's dad moved to Daytona Beach a couple of years ago, so he's thinking that he may take the kids there (~1hr drive) for a day or night once my meeting starts and then fly home with them Tuesday or Wednesday.
If you get that rate for the Yacht and Beach Club, I’d be inclined to have the family stay a few more nights and do some stuff without you. That is an amazing rate. Especially since you are getting discounted park tickets as well.
We are also planning to go during spring break but ours isn’t mid April so I wouldn’t panic about crowds.
I haven’t been able to line up a conference with Disney yet. Someday!
