Just started the latest episode. One thing I will say is that Miranda's hair now is miles better than her choppy-ass haircut she often had in the original. I also think the soft gray actually complements her skin tone more than the harsh red, too.
I think her hair is great, and I agree, so much better than in the original.
Yes! The soft curls, the length, it's all very nice now. Someone somewhere said they hate her gray hair, but I think it really suits her.
I am just not getting any chemistry between Miranda and Che. The Wexley's fight was so forced. Charlotte not apologizing to Harry was ridiculous. Carrie was acting ridiculous about that date, omg get over it, you both puked, calm down.

I just binged all the original seasons and the first 2 1/2 seasons were SUPER bad for her hair. SUPER bad. Once she got PG and had brady, it grew out and then she cut it - and it was tolerable from there on.
But the first 2 seasons in particular - HORRID.
And the red was ALL over the place throughout. Even in one episode. It would look soft and I would like it, then the next scene - RED!!!!!
I don’t like what they’re doing to Steve. He was always my favorite of the guys (with Harry a close second). I’m good with them exploring Miranda’s sexuality, her affair with Che, etc. but did they have to simultaneously turn Steve into an awkward old man/bore? Miranda could be tired of their dynamic without having to turn him into such a flat, two-dimensional character.

YES. It's like they're trying to make it ok that Miranda is cheating.

Exactly! It’s pissing me off! He can still be the good, solid, funny guy he always was and she could still want to get out. It happens.

I just read an article that the hearing loss is real. That when they reached out to David (Steve), the first thing they told him was that he had hearing aids. So, in the respect at least, it is a real development for the actor and how he is feeling about himself getting older and losing a lot of his hearing.
As a person who's been moderately deaf her whole life, I appreciate the fact that they have included Steve's hearing loss into his character arc - ESPECIALLY in the ways it affects an older middle aged person (mid 50s) differently than a younger person. It's not all the same. I feel the way Steve and his marriage to Miranda is being portrayed is very believable and realistic (based on personal experience), even if most fans are not liking it.
Yeah, I wasn’t referring to his hearing loss. He’s been on screen for five minutes in seven episodes and he’s just a flat, awkward caricature of his former self. Harry’s aged but he’s also recognizable and a three-dimensional character.
Hearing loss doesn't turn you into a bumbling idiot.
It can change the way you react to other people and the way others perceive you, which can have a negative spiraling effect. And that eventually can have a negative affect on that person's behavior and personality.

then i wish they’d spend more time on this! Instead, they are introducing all these new characters that I’m not really sure i care about, and Steve is a bit character who is seemingly forgotten.

Like ECB said, if they explored that, that would be great. Instead, they're just brushing him aside in a really weird way.
I can't get over the puking. How likely is it for two 50 somethings to get the exact same type of drunk where they puke at the same time. Ridiculous.
I like the show though. It has huge flaws, but my nostalgia for the OG series pulls me through.
I can’t get over the puking either. One problem I have with this reboot is that these women are my age, but they don’t seem to have the perspective or wisdom that actual 50-somethings have. They seem about 20 years too young.
Also they seem awfully clueless for people who have lived in a big city their entire adult lives. Everything shocks them!
I think the woman who plays Charlotte is just a bad actress.
I actually really like the new characters. I want more of them.

Unpopular opinion and super random change of topic but I liked the fourth wall breaking direct camera interviews in the early season(s).

And as women who drink a lot in the previous seasons, one would assume they know how much they can drink. And they’ve never puked from drinking before, and the fact that they ate dinner for maybe an hour or two and then instantly go to puking. Did they have 15 tequila shots in that time?
Yes I know drinking affects you differently as you get older, but this doesn’t explain it enough for me.
Oh, maybe this is a me issue. I was kind of grossed out by Steve and Miranda’s attempted hook up in the kitchen. So, he washes his hands BEFORE he fingers her, then went from doing that right back to touching all of the food lids, packing shit up, etc. I am not grossed out by sex, but ew.
The act of puking in and of itself - that doesn't bother me. I'm 51. I would say that I have puked at least once in the past 2 years from drinking too much. It can happen to the best of us, and honestly- 2 people out on a first date after losing their spouse... I could see it being difficult, emotional, and even guilt ridden (Look! you're dead and I'm out on a date having fun!). So, they responded by drinking too much.
And its really because of the above that I was annoyed by her judgement of it and her running away to avoid him over it.
It just felt silly and immature. Especially as I would assume they probably talked about their spouses, commiserated, etc.

I think she only puked because he did and right next to her.
wise_rita, I remember years ago reading that they stopped doing that because it felt less natural to SJP, meaning she felt she did not do it well, especially compared to her husband in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Right after dinner though? So like an hour or two after you started drinking? Because that would take some serious binging drinking.

I got the impression they didn’t eat. At the auction he said something like “did we even pay for those drinks?”

I puked in the street at 8pm (only about an hour or so after arriving) at a friends 40th birthday party because I had sucked down two scorpion bowls. Not one of my finest moments lol. But - it can happen!
I would have been mortified to either have gotten that drunk on a first date and/or puked all over the place afterwards. To me, that’s not a shared moment of hilarity. It feels more embarassing to me and I also would have hid from him the following night. I’d need more time to kinda process and get over it, so to speak.
