Carrie said something in this latest Diwali episode that made me cringe - when Miranda said figuring out her sexuality was a big deal, Carrie turns around and says something like “NO! Big dying was a big deal!” and of course the focus was brought back to her. I understand her life was altered so drastically with Big’s death. But that doesn’t diminish Miranda’s issues or Charlotte’s (dealing with being a parent to Rock).
I could be wrong here, but I think it was Charlotte who was saying it was a big deal, and she was more referring to the fact that Miranda had sex with someone outside her marriage (or I interpreted it that way).
Regardless, I agree with you that Big's death, while big, isn't the only big thing! It is definitely a big deal, but that being huge and life-altering doesn't mean other things aren't as well.
I seem to recall Charlotte trying to admonish Carrie for not making a big enough deal about it and that's when Carrie said Big dying was a big deal. I get that. I also get that once again she brought things around to her.
WHY weren't Charlotte and Carrie checking the clearly visible content lists on those boxes in the storage unit instead of just opening random boxes!!! Carrie obviously paid someone to pack up their old apartment - use them!
That's all I've got.
Yes! She asked where the sheets were and the box behind her was marked linens.
One random thing, did they ever explain why none of these people have biological family? Carrie didn't even have anyone at Big's funeral. No parents, siblings, even a cousin or aunt?
It wasn’t as noticeable on the show for the first few seasons or even an issue because all episodes took place in the summer months in NYC. They didn’t even have snow and slush. So, all of those great high heeled shoes and outfits didn’t suffer the wind, rain and snow of the winter seasons. At all. So, no family holidays either - no traveling for Thanksgiving or relatives in town for Christmas. It was just a fun snap shot into a few summer months for single ladies living the young single 30-something life in NYC. The last season had some production issues, so they actually (and for the first time) had seasons change. Anyway, all that to say - they didn’t need to explain it much, and then when they did need to, the writers didn’t bother.
It’s a bit of a hole. But we fans ignore it. And carry on.
Listen to yourselves! These people were horrible then and they're horrible now.
You either help me or GET OUT! This is what happens when I vow NOT to watch something.
That’s why I generally say I’ll watch something, and then overcommit so I just end up picking what I really wanted to in the first place. It’s a win/win!
All I can add is that I want a consult with that plastic surgeon! Also I just love when SJP’s hair is down and all wild, I think I’ve said this before, and it’s likely b/c my hair looks like that’s at times. Lol
I’m watching now, and OMG at Charlotte’s judgmental attitude towards Miranda.
My only comment on the ps visit was …sure like Anthony and Carrie aren’t already well familiar with the Botox. And I wish I had the cash for all that lol.
I'm not watching but am following along with the discussion, but can somebody please explain what a Harvard educated law firm partner is doing back in school? Like, what class is she attending and not teaching?
I presume she hasn't slowed down in her career and is trying to get back into it, but I could be wrong.

she’s going back for a Masters in human rights. And she quit her job. That’s kind of the point - she hates her job and is trying to do something new.
Here is the layout of Carrie’s apartment. I like it.
But… where is this other apartment that Aiden bought? Brownstones are narrow and Carrie has three windows already in front. I feel like if there’s another apartment on her floor, it would be behind her bathroom wall. The bedroom wall would be shared with the next brownstone.
I’m overthinking.
Also, for her to see Miranda and Che in the kitchen, they places a mirror along the wall by her bookshelves.

I think they broke up shortly after he started reno so I assumed he closed up the one spot he had busted through and sold that one separately.
Ignore me, I misunderstood your question lol. I'd have to watch those episodes where he's demo'ing and see where his sledgehammer comes through haha

They did! But schematically, where is it? What wall did they break through? The only place that makes sense is through the bathroom wall.

lol yeah you caught me before I realized I'm an idiot. Maybe they considered "the building" a row of brownstones? I'm only on Season 2 of my re-watch and that happens in Season 4. Might have to jump ahead to satisfy my curiosity now. THANKS A LOT, JOY.

It comes through her bedroom! Left side of the bed.

I’m here to ask illogical questions about a TV show that doesn’t matter and find non-useful ways to spend your precious time.

I'm rewatching too and I think I'm on the last episode of Season 2 right now!
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
Those that are re-watching: the 90s were some serious times for body shaming.
That and just general life style shaming. I am rewatching the later seasons and have cringed at a few episodes. The episode where Bobby Fine and Bitsy Von Muffling get married is especially cringy.

Nothing is this layout makes any sense. She lives in a middle brownstone, with homes on either side. her bedroom windows face the street. There's no way there would be TWO windows on different walls in her bathroom. Maybe one of them could be a light shaft between buildings but that's a stretch. The rear facing one is just nonsense.

I thought this was an interesting article. The thing about Miranda and podcasts made sense.
I also agreed with this take: The interactions between Che and Cynthia Nixon’s Miranda are hard to watch. That’s not because of any discomfort with the queer attraction being explored. It’s because Che is unhinged. The shotgunning of weed off a vape pen. The fingerbanging in Carrie’s kitchen while Carrie pees her bed. The instruction to Miranda to “DM me” if she wants to hang out again. It’s hard to put into words the vibe, other than to say the vibe is unsettling. Every time someone calls Miranda “Rambo,” an angel loses their wings.

It’s not provocative, and certainly not intelligent. In fact, it comes off as if a smarmy far-right pundit or creator was satirizing or parodying those conversations and the left’s wokeness addiction. That’s how broad and obtuse it is.
