I recently ordered this light for our foyer from Shades of Light:
H installed it while I was out, and when I got home, I realized that SOL sent us the wrong model. They also sell a model that differs by one model letter, and it is the same except the glass has stars etched in it. That's what they sent.
I checked my order email to make sure, and I did order the plain glass one. I reached out to them Sunday and haven't heard back yet. I am going to keep pursuing this, because the star version is a little cheaper than the plain one that I ordered and paid for. I either need the product exchanged or a refund of the difference. Before I push for them to replace the glass (which I'm guessing might result in just sending me a new light and lots of round trip shipping), do you agree that I should hold for the plain one? Getting a refund of the price difference (about $30) would clearly be easier for everyone, but I think I'd prefer without the stars.
If you aren't happy with it, get the one you ordered. I don't think it's unreasonable of you to expect them to replace it with the correct one. And, it's the foyer so it's something that you will see on the daily. You don't want to look at it every day and not love it.
As someone who once had a landscaper switch out giant planters that had already been planted in because the ones he bought and used were a wildly different style than all of the examples we had sent him, I am firmly on the side of holding out for the plain glass.
For me, personally, I think I'd push for the $30 refund and live with the stars. It looks like it's mounted high enough that they aren't going to be readily noticeable unless you stand under it with your head tilted at a rather uncomfortable angle.
However, it's your house and you need to be happy with it. If you feel strongly about the plain glass, you should push for the replacement rather than the refund.

I'm *pretty* sure it was from Shades of Light but one of the sconces I ordered for my bathroom was cracked and they replaced the glass. It took a lot longer -- I guess their "parts" department is less efficient than their general ordering department but I would expect you to be able to get a new glass and just swap it out without having to return anything.
Oops, I'm just realizing, can you just swap or would you need to uninstall/reinstall the whole light?
We wouldn't need to uninstall the whole light to swap out the smokebell. I think we just unhook the chains supporting the annular piece that the smoke bell hangs in, and the annular piece and the glass smoke bell come down, just like if you were taking it down to clean the glass. The ceiling mount and the candles stay where they are. Should be very easy with a second set of hands.
I was thinking I'd really rather have the plain one that I originally ordered, but H was making me second guess, saying the stars weren't bad. If I wanted the stars I'd have ordered them though.
I don't mind if it takes a long time, at the same time that I ordered this light in Nov., I also ordered a dining room chandelier. It's not expected to ship until March. In the meantime, the star glass is still better than the light that was there when we bought the house.

I’d insist on the plain one. If they send you a new one you can swap out the glass and give the other fixture away. Someone might want to use it, use the parts or hack a creative fixture. I generally like MCM starburst patterns but I don’t in this case because I don’t think that goes with the fixture style or your house.
It took SOL a few days to get back to me, but they were very nice about it. They sent me the plain glass alone, and a prepaid FedEx label to send back the star glass in the same well padded box. I still need to give the plain glass a once over with Windex and put it up, but all good.
Bonus: having it down gave me a chance to touch up the ceiling paint above it. The old fixture's flush base had a wider circumference than the base of this light, and it left some marking.
