justrak the good news is that looks like a totally generic setting that they “customized” by setting in stones of his choosing so they will probably at least let you exchange it for something else. Hopefully they will have something that doesn’t look like a castoff from Dynasty.
Bernadine, you have beautiful taste. Your husband... not so much. It's so much worse than i expected. I mean, 12 year old me would have LOVED that ring. But I was 12 in 1985. 48 year old me loves your selection. If only you had married me instead.

That's breathtaking!
The ring you picked is so pretty. If it's in the budget, I'd get the one you want. DH and I buy what we want and just write the other person's name in the "From" part. Hopefully, you can return it.
I am here to validate your disappointment. The ring he got is not good. Not close to what you want. Looks like something an extra in a Richard Marx video from 1988 would wear.
Yeah I had a ring like that that my dad & stepmom got me. It was my first ‘fancy’ ring.
I was not an extra in a Richard Marx’s video but it was the mid 80’s.
Are you going to tell him you don’t like it Bernadine? I don’t understand what he was thinking.

My update: Soap-giving SIL went with a gift card this year. I don't really drink coffee anymore, so I gave it to DH. An improvement overall. I feel like this is one step closer to no gift exchange (my preference).
Wow!! So I showed your selection to my husband and then had him scroll to the one you got. His response was “Oh my — he doesn’t listen very well, does he? Did you say ex-husband?” LOL! So sorry to laugh at your expense, but I too am wondering how he managed to get it so, so wrong.
You guys are killing me… in the very best way, lol.
I told him I don’t care for it- he doesn’t either. Lol. He said he forgot what the original ring I wanted looked like, but he thought it was like the one he got.
Oh man I hate when you want something simple and the person tries going above and beyond and it totally misses the mark. Then you not only don't have what you want but you feel bad since they put in effort lol.
My Hs grandma is sending us crabs for Christmas which is soooo expensive. And they're arriving Christmas eve or Christmas? What am I suppose to do with fresh overnighted crabs? We have a newborn and toddler so we can't just hang out and pick them. The fun of crabs is eating them in the summer with friends while drinking. Not trying to fit it in with Christmas activities. Also this would be a total surprise, but my mom luckily told me so I'm at least semi prepared. But also now thinking about it I've never steamed crabs and I'm not sure I have anything big enough to steam them. Ugh just send us a check if you're putting out all that money!
We live in NYC and at the very beginning of the pandemic, H's aunt convinced herself that we could not procure groceries and needed to be rescued. So she mailed us a ton of frozen gulf shrimp and redfish from my H's hometown. Honestly, the shrimp was delicious, but I did not know wtf to do with 4 lbs of redfish that was all frozen together. We ended up cooking it all at once because I didn't want to thaw and re-freeze, but it was an insane amount of food.
Plus LOL at the idea of only sending frozen seafood to people who "can't" procure groceries.

Wish me luck at the jeweler tomorrow!
That sounds like the kind of boneheaded thing my H would do (I say that in the most loving way possible). He tries, but sometimes he does NOT listen, or at least does not remember he was listening. The guessing is the worst.
This is why I have a very specific Amazon list now that he is allowed to shop from. I even specifically sent him the link to the specific bakery that gives cake decorating lessons that I want a gift card for this year. I reminded him he's in charge of my stocking and he asked for specifics or guidance. Dude, it's a stocking. Get me candy that's better than a single 2 lb bag of Life Savers gummies.

Wait, they’re coming alive?
You can’t eat dead crabs. It’s like lobster, clams, or muscles, if they are live or killed immediately (seconds to minutes) before steaming bad things happen 🤮
I see wildrice covered my other point. Crab season closed on dec 15, but really winds down mid-November. But, I would point out that my in-laws would do crabs for Christmas. The only thing they ever want for Christmas is a tub of crab cakes from G&M. We sent it once, and since then, they beg for it for every holiday. It actually really bugs me bc it’s like $80 to ship. But whatever. I don’t want to shop for them and H is a terrible gift giver. (Anyone remember the regifted Shark Slippers? But not a traditional regift - like gave me the same pair two years in a row. That was me.)
