My minor Christmas Crabs complaint is that our extended families keep sending gifts for the kids through amazon but don't spring for the $5 gift bag and just send them shit for me to wrap upon arrival. I decided I'm done and the amazon box can just sit under the tree and we'll have a box cutter at the ready. Ain't nobody got time for that shit.

I'll Christmas Crab you one further, my family does that but doesn't specify c/o on the box so I keep ripping into boxes thinking they are stuff I ordered but it's random gifts for who knows who in my family that they had shipped to my house ahead of the holiday.

This year my MIL sent my kids’ and husband’s gifts to me unwrapped and asked me to wrap them. Fine. Whatever. But then a couple weeks later sage sent my husband my gift…which she had gift wrapped. I’m still very WTF over the idea that I have time to wrap extra presents but her son is evidently incapable of doing so.

This year I had to buy my in-laws' gift to one of my kids because my mother in law "couldn't figure it out." You better believe I gave it right to my husband to drop off to her to wrap.

My mom sent me a gift card to a nice local restaurant. I haven’t dined in in person since 2019 (cancer treatments that didn’t allow for it, and then Covid). And I have not been shy about telling people that I’m not able to dine in, and that I miss it desperately. Le sigh.

Will they do carryout? We had a gift card to a nice restaurant we hadn't used when covid hit and we were able to get carry out.

Yes, but only to those in rented RVs. And my mom owns an RV now I wonder….
(I’m just ribbing you, Scout. This restaurant actually does not do carry out but that’s neither here nor there. And I’m not upset really with my mom, the whole thing was just a bit tone deaf on her part).
Bad gift? My H bought me a battery-powered warming vest for my birthday. One the one hand it’s very thoughtful because I am cold all the time (except when im having a hot flash and throwing everything off of me).
On the other hand it’s ridiculous. It’s snug and the battery pack is bulky and I can’t even imagine using this unless during outdoor activities. We don’t do outdoor activities, lol.
I can probably wear it at work behind my closed office door. My office is quite cold.
ANOTHER UPDATE, lol. H talked to the owner of the store, they will take it back, and I’m using the stones in this setting. I’m happy with this, but will probably still order the Etsy ring too. Lol.
I just got around to reading this update, I’m very glad your husband narrowly avoided death by ugly jewelry purchase.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
blondemoment123, something similar happened to me last year. DH went to my wish list and bought 4 random things. I was saving most of those as ideas for other people, not me, but had never mentioned that to him.
We are no gifts nearly every year but broke down last year due to shear covid boredom.
My Christmas Crab is that H’s dad always sends us food gifts we can’t eat due to allergies. I don’t expect everyone to remember. Fine, I trash or donate them each year and shake my head about the waste of money.
Except this year he shipped the kids some cookies to the wrong address. He then gave H bad information that FedEx took the packages to the local post office. H went there and nope. Not there. It was a whole fiasco and new cookies arrived today. I’m sure they cost him a pretty penny to be rushed.
Two massive boxes of cookies that, as expected, are full of allergens and I’ll have to deal with them. I’m annoyed with the whole thing. H says he talked to his dad. It’s equally likely that he didn’t talk to his dad or he did and his dad doesn’t care.

RitzyHeifer I would call them, explain about the cancer, etc, and ask them to prepare you a takeout option. I’ve worked in hospitality and we would make exceptions all the time.
Or do they have a patio for the summer? You could also wait.

I am loving this Christmas Crab. That's really all I have to add.
My family can be a PITA, but even before I moved all around, they preferred I visit on cheapass off season weekends rather than holidays. It's probably a result of growing up in serious tourist destination. No one (except tourists) want to be there.
If you give a small child a remote controlled vehicle that requires 5 batteries (2 different varieties) please either give the parents a warning or give the batteries with the gift 🤦🏻♀️. My child has now ransacked every battery operated item in our house to find the right combination.
Fucking MIL. I sent her Target links on October 30th for the 2 dolls my kid wanted.
She bought one doll, one Barbie jeep, and apparently something else that hasn’t shown up yet.
But not the second doll my kid you know, wanted. And she already has a Barbie car.
Like WTF? This is why I hate giving suggestions because they don’t listen and I have to deal with the fall out.
Our family can be the same way - we end up with duplicates (books and another marble run!) - or items that go straight to donation/the resell pile.
I am like "$10 gift card to Barnes and Noble is perfectly fine" -- Step Brother is like "Here, take this 4' tall Darth Vader that makes noises." Our younger son doesn't even follow Star Wars....
