Any crafting related New Years resolutions? I can think of a few:
1. Keep my sewing room clean. I spent 6 hours over my holidays cleaning and purging. The biggest issue is that I WFH from there when I need to and papers from work were accumulating.
2. Play with my cover stitch. I’ve been too intimidated and short on time as of yet to delve in. I want to be able to do a neck binding on a knit sweater.
3. Work from my fabric stash (lol forever). Related: finish projects I’ve started.
4. Make a bathing suit.
5. Make 4 more bras, including a longline strapless bra.
6. Start making my icelandic wool sweater. My Mom brought me back wool as my Xmas gift. It’s going to be scratchy but delicious.
7. This should be higher up the list but I need to get my main machine serviced so I can quilt two quilts. It’s been fine for piecing but the timing is a little off when it has to go through batting.
Sew. Otherwise, my fabric stash is in danger of turning into a hoarding situation. OMG SEW.
Get better with my wheel throwing. This just means I need to carve out time to practice- pulling thinner walls, more clay. It's something I've put off for too long because it feels so indulgent to spend all this time making so much mess on just- practice. I just need to get over myself and do it.

I feel the same way about practicing watercolor. Even the cheap paper is expensive and it's difficult to use (vs highquality). The really high quality stuff can be $3 a sheet.

The nice thing about clay is I can just throw it all back into the reclaim bucket (but the crappy thing about clay is that the reclaim bucket will haunt me until I take care of it- maybe 2023's goals).
And oh I get it, during our year of school at home, I would cut that watercolor paper up into adorable, tiny little canvases LOL. Maybe you should think about adding paper making to your goals? :*p <3

Pottery goals for me too. Expand what I can make, try lidded forms & larger pieces. Definitely make a teapot. Hopefully make some things that are good enough to sell.
1. Learn to knit. I did just get some knitting looms so I'll start with those but I am determined to learn to knit on needles.
2. Make a dent in my WIPs, both sewn and yarn.
3. Get my serger serviced (again, the timing is off and the thread keeps coming off the left looper) and finally learn to use it.
I could say that I will keep my sewing room clean, but lol.

Youtube is a great place to start! Once you find someone who teaches in a way you understand well, keep watching all the same person. And follow along as they do it, pause a rewind a lot if you need to. If you need in-person help, look for a knitting shop or a group, libraries are a good place to start, too. Our library lets you check out knitting needles and crochet hooks!

I have sewing patterns for the Linds Handmade Purse and Pocket Pals. It's out of my skill set, but I'm fairly certain I'm capable. I've got a plan to organize my SewFlamingoSew offerings by month/season, so not really a drop, but hopefully streamlining things so I do a little less chaos stitching. We'll see.

That's so funny, did you join her fb group? I just bought the h2o to go sling on a whim last week after randomly clicking on a YouTube sew along (I've been making my own patterns for years and it was so nice to see a polished pattern for a water bottle holder). There is... well there's a lot of Disney there. I am not a fan of Disney (for the ones who don't know, the company donates to bad people and lobbies for bad causes), so I don't think it will be good for my tongue to stay there longterm haha. But there's some great pattern tips, smart alterations, and explanations in there, too.

Custom bags and fabric groups feel like 75% disney stuff. It gets so over the top.

I have joined it. I added teflon feet to my stocking and have the edge coat. I'm not Disney crazy, but it hadn't bothered me yet. I wish it was an embroidery pattern, lol.

You can find embordery files for the tab, fyi, if you look around etsy.

I already own more than one, lol. CreationsbyConnie ran a helluva sale before Christmas. It's the stupid 40"x2.5" wide piece of credit card lining that is my hangup.

Ive seen peopel use wide ribbon. But quilting tools (ruler and rotory cutter) are really useful too

My cutting mat is only 24x36" and I can't see the top of my cutting table. I had some scraps that I got in an estate box, but they are 2" wide instead of the 2.5" i need. I just need to clean my table off, lol.

I always cut those strips folded, rather than trying to cut 40" long.
1. Sew, specially from my stash of both fabric and patterns. I seem to be more of a collector than a doer these days.
2. Clean it up! My craft space was in a good situation about 4 months ago, but things started to spiral and then the holidays put it under.
2.1 Throw it out! I can’t seem to throw anything away. I have piles of fabric scraps, egg cartons, miscellaneous empty containers, and remnants of craft projects and ideas that are somewhere between done and undone that just take up space. Time to let go of some of it!
3. Polymer Clay. I showed DD (11) some videos on polymer clay work including marbling and millefiori and she wants to try it. I haven’t done it since I was roughly her age, but I have a multipack of some clay to play with. I just need to set aside the time.
1. Clear the room that will become the craft room. Stuff just appears and takes up the floorspace.
2. Buy a table. I keep browsing FB Marketplace but I think I need to just get a regular folding table from Sam's Club and get started.
3. Buy a new printer for work and crafting. My current one is an old massive laser printer that's reached the stage where it annoys me.
4. Unbox my Cricut!
5. Specifically for projects, I want to try paper flowers, paper polyhedrons (I used to make these in high school) and maybe a puzzle because DS is currently obsessed with them.
Ok, after getting my lagging baby blanket off my hook, I can actually think about this. (not that I've SHIPPED THE DARN THING)
1. finish my first pair of socks. I started them almost exactly a year ago, but they've become my purse project and since I never GO anywhere they're not really getting done. I've probably only got 2 more inches to go so if I just concentrate on them they'll go fast, but I still can't knit without looking, so they're not good for netflix time or reading time. (I can crochet while reading as long as it's a standard stitch and a short repeat)
2. Start second pair of socks. finish them in less than a year. that seems reasonable, right?
3. Hit the 50% mark on the ill advised MASSIVE husband blanket and decide if it's actually going to be that big. work on it steadily enough through February that I can actually gauge speed and get an idea of when I might be able to finish the thing.
4. Buy No Yarn until at least 2 pending projects (besides the ones above) are finished. NONE WAWA. NONE. ZERO YARN.
wawa, I've already failed at your #4. I bought 2 gorgeous skeins of $$ sport weight yarn from a specialty store in Santa Fe (we were there 2 weeks ago). I also clicked with the store owner and it turns out we have a lot in common. But ugh, it's probably a good thing it's not local because I could definitely spend too much money there.
I told myself these will be knitted socks so that is my motivation to learn, so I can have gorgeous socks made with the gorgeous yarn.
