How’s everyone doing? How are you feeling about 2022?
Well my hcg is finally under 20 (I don’t know the exact number), thank goodness. So the ectopic pregnancy is behind me wahoo. So my doctor said to call him on first day of my cycle so we can an hsg then to see what my tubes look like. So my first hsg my right tube didn’t fill all the way, but the ectopic was in the left tube. So it’ll be interesting to see where things stand.
I’m leaning towards trying a few cycles without meds or maybe with clomid if things look ok, but am keeping an open mind for ivf. One of my friends has had 2 ectopic pregnancies back to back and I’m hoping not to have to deal with that. Although it’s better than a molar pregnancy, so silver lining!
Hearing into our last year of stuff. And I am so ready to be done one way or another. Meeting with a new re tomorrow. Hopefully things go well and we can get started asap. There is some testing that needs to get done before another transfer. I was hoping for a transfer by March but likely April/may will be more realistic. I need to touch base with the ri after my re appointment once we decide if we are moving to them or not (95 percent sure we will, we talked to them last year but then decided to wait until after the ri). Three embryos left so three transfers left and then we are done assuming none of them work. (If they do work then great! That means we dialed in my issues with the ri stuff).
We've had all medical and psych screening done for surrogacy. Our agency sent the contract to the surro and her lawyer, so we're just waiting on that to move to transfer!
FET on Friday. Hubby asked earlier if all the drugs are even good for me, lol. I showed him my schedule so he can see that the worst actually starts after the transfer, not before. Mostly more pills for those not at this stage, fyi. I have my plan for post transfer bedrest meals and @@ my mother in law will be here this weekend in hopes that my lo isn't traumatized by not being picked up or held by me @@ Ive been reading people not having bedrest and even having sex post transfer. Anyone have that in their plan? I'm an old so I'll follow the protocol that worked last time (bedrest and no sex) but curious if this is common for others now or what.

Evidence doesn't support bedrest after transfer. I took it easy, but didn't stay in bed or on the couch all day. I haven't seen any research on sex after transfers, but I haven't looked. Logic says it should be fine in the majority of cases (I mean, people who have spontaneous conceptions, or even IUIs, have sex during super early pregnancy all the time, right?).
I personally didn't have sex after my transfers, but I also hyperstimulate easily, so my ovaries were giant and sex, or any activity more vigorous than walking or gentle yoga, is contraindicated due to the risk of ovarian torsion.
CD1 here making it another failed IUI (5). We are in process of moving halfway across the country. I have a consult in 2 weeks at a new clinic there. IVF seems like our only solution now. I am trying to keep an open mind about it.

barney96 , my clinic is sort of old-fashioned on post-transfer restrictions, and they say pelvic rest until graduation to your OB, sometime between 6.5 and 8.5 weeks. On bedrest, they actually do not recommend it. Valium 30 minutes prior to transfer, so a rest the rest of the day, but then they want you up and moving for blood flow to your uterus. On transfer day, I did lay around and watch movies, but I also left the couch and felt totally fine.
dove, I'm sorry about the IUI. How disappointing. I hope you like the new clinic.
Finishing up my progesterone/estrace fake cycle tomorrow, so hopefully having a period soon after that and then starting prep for an FET. Hoping the estrogen patches work better this time so I can actually get to the transfer. We have 3 embryos on ice and I just want to transfer them already (still only one at a time, really not trying to have twins here). I'm not planning to do any more retrievals and ready to know if we are going to get pregnant again or if we are done.
On the bedrest question, my clinic just recommends taking it really easy for a couple day, like they say to act like you have the flu. I have always just gone on pretty much like regular, maybe stay home/keep it chill that same day but not lay in bed the whole time, and I have def gone to work the next day. I do tend to avoid sex but that's probably also affected by being on crinone, etc and not really feeling in the mood.

I'm gearing up for retrieval #3, I'm just not sure my hearts in it anymore though. I think I'd feel different if I haven't been at this journey for as long as I have.
Why is your heart not in it? No judgement- it's a lot going through this and to do three retrievals it is a lot. Maybe if you articulate exactly how you feel you'll know better what you want to do.

I swear waiting for my period this month has felt like forever lol. But my temp has dropped for the past 3 days so I think it should be on its way, crossing fingers. Hopefully scheduling the hsg won’t interfere with work, not sure what to do about that ugh. Hope everyone else is doing ok!
Final embryo didn't take, so we're out. My birthday is under 2 weeks away and I'm too old to do another egg retrieval (not literally, but it's just a bad idea).
Seems like the estrogen patch issue from last time is resolved, my lining was good yesterday so I am starting progesterone today and transferring on Friday. My hip is sore from the PIO this morning, think I'll try my thigh tomorrow. If I'm doing this every day for a while I want to have more sites to rotate my shots through.

Had my hsg. My right tube still seems to be blocked for some reason. My left tube where the ectopic was seems to look ok. My doctor said we can zoom tomorrow as he’ll have plenty of time to talk/answer questions.
I think I’m leaning towards trying 1 or 2 natural or with clomid cycles then going to ivf instead of jumping right to ivf now. I guess one of my main questions is that if I have another ectopic what does tubal surgery look like. I don’t want to go through the loooooong wait with methotrexate again. Got pregnant in September and here we are in January lol.

wanderingback, I'm sure you know this given your profession, but definitely ask him about hydrosalpinx with the blocked tube. If there's evidence of that, you'll want to get that tube removed, as it will inhibit implantation if you do end up doing IVF. Not sure if your current doctor is an RE, but if not, you may want to get your consult scheduled now, as waits for those can be a few months. Disregard if you could start IVF with this doctor at any time, of course.

I hope the meeting tomorrow goes well!
No there’s no evidence of hydrosalpinx on the R tube. We looked at the images together and then the radiologist read the images as well. We talked about it and the images don’t look consistent with that. The doctor I’m seeing now is an REI and seems really responsive and open to questions and suggestions so I think we’re good. Thanks for the suggestion!

wanderingback, that's great! My tubes are blocked also, and it isn't hydrosalpinx. No known reason here either, and it didn't inhibit implantation at all.

I tell my patients all the time, "bodies are weird!" Also that’s why I’m a less is more person, shouldn’t go looking for trouble lol.
