Our kitchen reno is supposed to start in a couple of weeks (Yay! & FX), so I am starting to think about paint colors. Our living areas and hallway all flow into each other, so I am not sure if I want to break up the spaces like we have now, or just do everything the same color.
The majority of our cabinets (along back wall and lowers in cooking area) will be dark gray, and we have oak hardwood throughout (we plan to keep it natural like it is now, but may go a hair darker if necessary). I don’t know if I want a white or light gray.
Opinions? We will be using BM paints, but am open to SW colors, as they can color match.
(Excuse the chaos)
Looking into the kitchen area from the dining area. Cabinets will take up most of the wall space to the lefts. The only area we’ll have to paint is around the two doors Looking into living area Hallway is to the left.
I have always painted the kitchen the same color as other common/continuous areas of the house, and I've always painted it pretty neutrally. It's been right in the center of the house (literally and figuratively), and I want it to go with everything and flow with at least something.
In our last house the kitchen was SW Creamy with gray-green cabinets, and it matched the front hall/foyer/stairs, although the family room & dining room were different.
In our current house, the kitchen is being painted SW Worldly Gray, which will match the whole first floor except for the dining room & office, which are each their own paint colors.
I don’t have a specific shade recommendation, as I mostly use Miller Paint (which is a local chain in the Pacific Northwest), not helpful, I know! But I think you should go with a light gray instead of white, as it will help hide fingerprints around the door. Also want to add that your design choices so far sound lovely!
We are just finishing up a reno and used the same color in both kitchen and living areas. We did white. It's a little boring so I vote light gray. Your dog is cute.
Susie Is Worldly gray more on the greige side? I think our cabinets lean more cool, so I don’t know if those would work (because I really don’t have much of clue about these things).

It's going to be so undertone specific, I would swatch a few. We did BM Classic Gray in our bathroom, it's a neutral/warm gray that's almost white, and plays nicely w/a lot of undertones.
If you wanted to do a color, a pale seafoam or pale/neutral pink would look pretty w/those colors.
Whatever you choose, I would keep it very light b/c of the dark gray cabinets. It'll be gorgeous!
Yes, I think Worldly Gray would be too warm for your materials. I have it in a lot of spaces in our current house, with various light directions and sources. I tend to find it looks fairly gray under natural light and 3000K+ artificial light... but downright tan under anything 2700K or less.

If you’re looking to find a good neutral I think it is so important to wait until the cabinets and hard surfaces are installed, as well as the lighting. I screwed up at our current house on the entire paint colour. I’m living with it and planning on repainting individual rooms but it’s been really frustrating since I knew better from renovating our previous house. Unfortunately since we were working with a custom builder the paint had to be chosen months in advance.

We won’t pull the trigger until things start getting installed, but wanted to have a better idea of colors to sample. Everyone here has great ideas about color, so I figured I’d start here!
