I can't remember if I've posted about this before, but we are converting our dining room into a sitting/living room that *can* be used as a dining room when needed (like maybe twice a year for us).
When it's in sitting room mode, there will be a dark blue (tweedy type fabric) loveseat/bench where the two chairs are side-by-side in front of the window (then those two chairs will go in another room). Our dining room table is a gate leg table and it's folded down on the right. You can see the floral print I had framed and that all be hung up on the wall it's leaning on.
I'd like to hang a mirror with candle sconces on either side above the folded table. OR maybe hang a collection of mirrors, something like this?
But I'm definitely open to other suggestions for that wall. I just needs to be something that looks okay when the room is set up as a dining room and I don't want another piece of art that would compete with the one that will be perpendicular to it.
Also, we are replacing the corner china cabinet with this bar cabinet. We're doing faux roman shade valances on the windows and this is the fabric for the loveseat, bench thing with one of the accent pillows and the art:
I know it's kind of a weird thing to do, but our house isn't huge and this gives us the benefit of a dining room space when we need it, but a living room for the rest of the time.

I think a mirror is a great idea. Or some kind of decorative piece (wood, metal, ceramic, etc) would also work. I like the round mirrors though. I think it goes well with with the blend of modern and traditional pieces you have going on, although it might seem very matchup with the light fixture.

I agree with all of this, and want to add that I am in love with your new bar cabinet.

This particular setup of round mirrors screams āMickey Mouseā to me so I would definitely avoid the layout they have in the pic. Maybe stock an oval in there somewhere?

That art is so beautiful, and that bar cabinet is amazing! I like the idea of a collection of mirrors, but maybe not that exact collection? But I just spent a long time looking at mirrors and couldn't find one that worked better, so maybe you're right. :-)
af1212 , lol, I can't unsee Mickey Mouse now. THAT is why I need other sets of eyes to look at things
I thought the same. As soon as I read it I was like THAT was what was bugging me! I kept thinking "They look a little juvenile" but couldn't figure out why.
I like the idea of a series of round mirrors but agree the layout can be tricky and I donāt like the idea of any other shape in a series. You can also do a large rectangle mirror which is the more traditional option. Loweās is a good place to buy large mirrors that are pretty affordable.
I'd also consider wood framed mirrors to pick up on the wood tone of the new cabinet (so cool btw)/ Between the light and the chairs, you've got quite a few bras accents (and I assume the sconces you're eying may be brass too).
I'd probably buy 1 or 2 options w/the ability to return one once you've got the room pulled together. I hate waiting on this stuff but sometimes you really just need to see it all pulled together. Lovely space! I love your chairs too!

I have a collection of mirrors in my bathroom that I love - they are arabesque in style so they don't have that Micky Mouse look. I can't find a pic and my bathroom is a mess, but I have them hanging by chains so a bit different in look.
finding a mirror was stressing me out, lol. then my designer found some paintings that I ended up loving and we paired them with some wall sconces. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
And we finally got our banquette! But the people who made it put the wrong legs on it *sad trombone* They were supposed to use ones that are about 3.5 inches taller so that it's high enough to be used at table seating. The main part of the piece is perfect and just want I wanted, but now I'm waiting for them to send out new legs. And then my designer is going to have someone change them.
The last pieces of the puzzle are the window treatments and the bar cabinet I mentioned in my op. I'm going to bring in more of the pink/orange colors into the window treatments (faux roman shades) and I think that will get help balance the color and keep it fun.

Love it, and thanks for updating! I saw some mirrors the other day that were an interesting shape and I thought of this thread but I guess I closed the window and now I can't even remember what they looked like. Glad it's a moot issue!
