This one is new to me but I kind of dig it, and see how it draws attention away from the sloped ceiling in a way that linear tile would only emphasize. How you get into those far cabinets without bonking your head though IDK.

DH really wants to do something like this at our place but we have a busy granite countertop so it won’t work. He also desperately wants some kind of a tile feature for behind the stove. I can’t find a plain, black/brown tile that also has some kind of built-in decorative element that meets his needs (and is available in Canada). He’s killing me and we will never have a backsplash since his requirements are impossible.
All I can think about is the amount of dust, oil, and general cooking gunk that's going to gather at the tops of those tiles and be impossible to clean.
We considered doing something like that as the transition when we redid our kitchen floor, but I just couldn't get past the asymmetry in the end. A lot of the inspiration pics I saw looked so cool though.
