I'm really sad, I liked him as a person as well as my advisor. He passed from COVID so it was completely unexpected as well. Aside from being sad I'm also stressed about my ROTH. I've had it almost 20 years so it is a substantial amount. I've already gotten a letter stating the nearest advisors in other towns that worked with his company, he was a one man shop so there is no one else in his office that I can go to. I have no idea who these other advisors are, they are from different cities. I'm so confused what I should do. I'm from a small town so I know everyone and really don't care for the other financial advisors in town. I started a ROTH for my fiance but I feel more confident investing his money than my own since it is such a different balance. I don't want to screw up anything by taking it over myself but I don't necessarily have a good feeling about the other advisors in town. UGH!!!

That is sad for his family and frustrating on your end. I’d ask around and get a rec for someone in a different town. It would be worth it to drive to meet the right person, and you can do zoom and phone calls.
I just wanted to chime in and say how sorry I am. It’s a lot to process and figure out.
Our financial advisor died from pancreatic cancer (ie very suddenly) and it was such a blow for so many reasons. He was a wonderful person. I am still sad he’s gone and it’s been many years.
I'm sorry for your loss. Our accountant passed away a couple of years ago from an illness and we really miss him; took us years to find someone we enjoyed working with, and he was also such a nice guy.
Do you know what kinds of investments he has your Roth in? Do you want someone actively managing/trading your account, or does it make sense to consider something like a target retirement fund or a simple index portfolio that you just set and forget on your own?
I know how painful it can be finding a financial advisor you're comfortable with. Take your time, and good luck.
I am so sorry! Are there any other advisors in your town that work for a different company? You could always transfer your ROTH to a new company when the time is right.

Ironically at our last meeting in November he printed off everything so I do know exactly where they are invested.....I'd completely forgotten that he had did that. There were no target funds that I remember but maybe I can figure this out myself.......
