This is so random and JMB, but I get annoyed that I have to type in my city/state after I put in my zip code. Shouldn’t my zip code be sufficient?
I think they should have the correct city/state pop up according to your zip. I ALSO think that if you have to put in a zip or phone number, the numeric keypad should come up. So annoying
My theme for 2022 is "just do it." I am the worst at procrastinating because I think I need to think things over and analyze a decision to death, and then I end up missing out on things that I wanted to do.
So in that spirit, I just booked a full day ice hike with my son in a few weeks. It is a 2.5 hour drive away and starts at 8:45 am, but I'm trying not to over think it. It looks amazing and we both are excited about it so we are just going to do it.
Can you swing making the drive the night before and adding to the trip? I would do that if possible but I am NOT a morning person!
bex1973, maybe? I could use credit card points to stay at a hotel about 30 minutes away. As long as the weather looks OK though, I think we can just leave at 6 am-- I'm sure there won't be much traffic so should be an easy ride. If it looks like it might be iffy though I'll book something last minute.
I'm a little annoyed at myself because I took a few days to think it over and missed out on all the options that started at 9:45, which would have been better timing. That's what pushed me to just book instead of taking more time to "think about it" and taking the risk of it selling out.
DS got eaten by mosquitos Saturday night and has had a fever off and on since Sunday afternoon. I thought it had broken last night when he was nice and cool (and had sweat through his sleep sack) around 1 am, but today he's been hot and cranky again I'm not actively worried yet since it hasn't even been 48 hours yet, and paracetamol brings it down, but I'd really like him to feel better soon!
Do you have dengue/chick v/zika or any of those things around you at the moment? I hope it is nothing but I know the worry - I used to have it all the time when mine were babies as DS2 was born during the chick-v outbreak here.

We are saying the same thing, right?
I have brain fog over here lol!
Haha yeah we are lol. I’m also a bit foggy this morning
DD is boosted! She was out of school yesterday due to side effects. It did a number on her for sure.
We're getting closer to the finish line for our bedroom renovations. Just a few minor things left. That means shopping for new decor! I'm overwhelmed already. At least we have most things for DD's room.
I'm looking for:
Curtains for our bedroom. Area Rug for our bedroom. New Duvet Cover for our bedroom. New art. New desk for spare bedroom.
I'm really not sure. I just remember back home in Delaware growing up, we used to pick them (buttercups) and hold them under our chins and whether or not it reflected yellow in your chin was supposed to tell you...something? I don't remember and it sounds really weird now lol
Wait… I feel like this has been a board discussion before.
ETA: if you like butter!? Who doesn’t? Lol
My kids BOTH don't like butter!!! I keep trying to show them how delicious it is, and they freak out if they can see actual butter on anything. I don't get them and am kinda doubting they actually came out of my womb.

I only like it if it's melted. H will just slop a think layer of butter on stuff and I'm like "nope, don't like that" Also, timing, I just had this conversation with a coworker yesterday haha

I love when I see posts like this on the Facebook moms board…”my 4year old is in pre-K and we’ve decided to homeschool next year. We’d love to have friends to hang out with. His interests are science, particularly microbiology.” Lmao. Mmmmk. I have a 4 year old, his interests are cool cars and army guys. I’m sure there are some savant like 4 year olds who are into microbiology. I’m feeling like that’s going to be a hard one to match up with in a preschooler.

Luckily no! Between natural geographical isolation and climate, Chile doesn't get any of those. I'm pretty sure he's just reacting to the bites themselves rather than having some other illness, but he had an allergic reaction to a previous bug bite, so now that he's got several at once we're keeping an eye on whether it's too much for his little body to handle.
I am contemplating doing a Mammoth March 20 miles in 8 hours. Anyone have any experience? I hike frequently but would need to make effort to actually up my mileage sans my old dogs that need to sniff and pee on everything. I only take them on 3ish mile hikes at their age. I've done longer hikes in the desert, Santa Monica Mountains, and the Lares Trek. The local route for this is fairly flat so I won't have to deal with too much elevation changes or hills.
Here's a random, I used to work with a woman who ate butter as a snack. Just a stick of butter, not on anything. She would just slice off pieces and eat them. She was super thin, too. I think she was in her early 20s and this was more than 10 years ago, so I wonder if this has caught up to her by now lol.

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

If there is any justice in this world, it has caught up to her lol.

They told us to do this for DS who was underweight and needed the fatty foods. Maybe she did it to maintain or gain weight?
I picked up a glass jar with daffodil (buttercups damn it!) bulbs at Trader Joe’s on Sunday. I came in my office with a single buttercup bloomed. It made my day. It is probably my favorite flower just like it was my mom’s. I had no clue what color they would be. It appears the first is a yellow in yellow. It’s the one my grandparents had growing wild on the hillside of the farm. ❤️
Lovely! Daffodils are such a cheerful flower.
You can plant the bulbs after they bloom! I have a bunch of mini daffodils I’ve bloomed indoors and then planted outside and they are always the first ones up in spring.

I don't know, that's not how she explained it - she said she just enjoyed it! But who knows if that's where she got the idea from to begin with. She didn't do it in front of us, it was just something she shared in conversation.

Gross. But I wouldn't say anything to her because I don't comment on what people eat but inwardly I would be gagging haha
On one day, I can’t believe January is almost over but on the other, NYE seems like it was a decade ago.
I know I’m often in the minority but I love Valentine’s Day! Last year we got Russ and Daughters delivered and I was going to order the same assortment again but I think there is a whitefish shortage. Now I have to think of something else. There is only so much pickled herring (the sub) we can eat! We thought about Katz’s but the reviews say things aren’t packaged well and I don’t have the energy to open a box that has been flooded with matzah ball soup. I’m trying to think of some place else that has things we don’t really have locally but I’m drawing a blank.
We just started Archive 81 last night. I love it. It's kinda scary, but I'm a big wimp. David came out while we were watching it and he was getting into it, and I'm unsure if I should let him watch it with us. He's a very mature 13. Has anyone finished it?
