Not sure anyone cares, but ... as previously mentioned, I am quite bored. :-)
The vinyl flat came. I like it! For some reason even though it was described as grey I expected it to be a little turquoise-y too from the picture, and it's very grey, but I still like it. I'll be interested to see how it holds up to doggie toenails and the degree to which it really collects mud/water, and also if it stays where it's put, but I think at worst I'll throw the ruggable runner down on top of it when the weather is really bad and it'll still make it easier to clean up underneath (it's wider than the ruggable) and not leave the floor unprotected while the other runner is in the wash. Sorry for the mess, and the dirty doggie door. We're building a shed which is where hopefully most of this junk will go in the spring!
The narrow cart also came and this is absolutely a win. It fits perfectly into that narrow spot and it holds so much! I was worried it would be rickety because it came in pieces and you just kind of snap the shelves onto the sides, but it seems to be pretty secure once all four shelves are in place.
The laundry room is still very much a work in progress. I want to put cabinets in, and ultimately something kind of like this is my goal,

In the same vein of trying to keep the floors clean, DH took his Christmas present from work (Best Buy GC) and we topped it up to buy a Narwal robot vacuum/mop unit. It came in on Monday and we were both so excited. The base station can fit in the laundry room so that is awesome.
However, the damn thing didn’t vacuum! We’ve got a defective unit so now I had to drive into town to ship it back for a replacement. I hope we get it within the week. DH has been in a funk because he’s so sad. It did an amazing job of mapping the entire first floor though. Everything is hardwood and tile other than the entrance mats so it can go everywhere!

dr.girlfriend I really like that pattern. Where did you get it from? Do they come in smaller sizes?
I feel like I have been talking about it forever, but we are really going to be starting on the main construction of our kitchen next week! We’ve had the floor in since just before Christmas. Before:
Current:
We just have to take down the drywall on the back wall (left side of the picture) so they can insulate that wall and move wires and such. Of course it is ridiculously cold here now, but at least the worst of it will only be for a few days.
dr.girlfriend that IKEA laundry room DIY is amazing and I need that in my life. I love the storage and the hanging rack for clothes drying. What a dream space.
My laundry room has 0 storage except a small bench for shoes and 4 hooks for coats. The hooks already fell off the wall once. It's a barely usable very messy space that overwhelms me.

aprilsails, Aw, that sucks! I hope you get the replacement speedily and that it works well! I've never heard about that type of robot vac, interested to look it up.
libbygrl109, So exciting! Good luck and definitely update when it's done (or update while it's in progress, I love to see things come together!)

Here's where it's from! They have ones as small as 2x3 and also 4-foot round ones, but they also make placemats if you want even smaller I guess! Now that I think of it I should have gotten a placemat for under the dog's bowls...
I've always been attracted to these retro funky tile patterns but not enough to commit to actually installing any in my bathroom. I like that I can have the pattern without the commitment...

wow - that shelf system is a perfect fit!!!
we are going to start a kitchen remodel and have targeted June 1 as the start date - so that should give us enough time to count for supply chain, etc... it's a full gut and removing about 6' of a wall.. going to be a mess with a lot of creep into other areas of the house.
I love the clean bright look of the white cabinets and white/gray quartz - but worried it will look "builder grade" and like everyone else's kitchen. So am hiring an interior designer to help.

Thank you! I will have to look. We have an LLBean mat right in front of our back door, which is our usual way into the house. I didn’t care too much about the floor when it was 80s linoleum, but may want something a little bigger when the hardwoods are done.
Love the randoms - for some reason I can't "like" posts right now? But assume I liked all yours! Dr. G that space is really coming together! So excited to see all the kitchens and renos this year!
I treated myself to a laser measuring tape but of course it seems to be a defective one - I want to start playing w/floor plan ideas for our first floor, that gadget will make things much easier for my fickle mind. I made a looooong 2022 project list too.
One of my first items is building or installing (not sure which yet....) a shelf over the tub in the primary bath we renovated and putting some plants on it. I have the plants, and I think I have material for a shelf, I just need time to plan it out and warmer weather so I don't mind going in and out of the garage.
