My youngest has a fun run next week. She’s excited, but I’m tired of begging the same family to remember to donate. Most of them donate as soon as the email arrives. But a couple keep saying when we see them, “oh yeah, we have to do that!” Every year, she has it in her head she really wants the BIGGEST prize they offer.
We have a few parents at the school who are pissed that we aren’t opening it up to allow parents on campus to cheer on the kids. (We are in FL, but our principal doesn’t want 600- something sets of parents on campus, which they won’t all show, but no thanks)
So a couple have made it their mission to boycott the only school fundraiser we have, and to get their friends to do it too.
I went to see RENT last night with a friend and it was so good! I hadn't seen it since 2009 and having started high school in 1997 it was just so nostalgic for me because the older theatre kids I looked up to and hung out with were OBSESSED With it. At the start of the second act, two people near us started singing out loud and they got through "five-hundred twe-" when I, completely without conscious thought, said out loud "mmm-mmm, nope, no." because...well...no. They stopped.
H went over the neighbors last night, I was tired to I stayed home and went to bed, lol. BUT when I woke up, he told me he got us tickets to a drag brunch next weekend, to go with the neighbors. Yay!
I did not sleep well at all the last 2 nights, so I am super tired. I've noticed in recent months that if I drink more than like 3 drinks in the same day, my heart rate is faster, even hours after stopping. My H and I went out for lunch and drinks yesterday afternoon, and then since I was just watching TV and relaxing, I thought I needed a beer and a martini after we got home. I stopped drinking before dinner but even at midnight I felt like I was still keyed up. I guess I need to remember that next time. Not sure if it's because I'm getting old or because of my medication? I don't remember this ever being an issue before.
Today I am ushering for the play Summer: the Musical. I honestly wish I was just staying home, but I am sure I will enjoy it. It should be done around 3pm or so so I think I'm going to run to Costco and Trader Joes afterward. I hate going either place on the weekend but hopefully Sunday late afternoon isn't as busy.
It is my birthday tomorrow so DH booked an igloo lunch today with the kids at a local resort on the water looking over the bridge. I am so excited! We also have a sitter tomorrow night for an adult only dinner.
It’s school vaca week and I took the week off but also signed the kids up for a 1/2 day art camp so I have 3 hours alone to do anything I want every day. I don’t even know what I will do with all my time. I’ve booked a pedicure but have no other plans.
DH and I are signing an offer today for a piece of land up in the mountains so we can build a second home. I feel very anxious. Lol
Yesssss!!! I'm so excited for you! We won't build on ours in Red Lodge until we pay this house off, but just knowing it's there is so exciting
We’re probably a couple years out from building, but it feels good to secure the opportunity. The mountain communities have become so expensive. I’m afraid if we wait, we’ll be priced out. Grabbing land gives us so much flexibility.
I’m counting down the days until our neighbors’ daughter is old enough to babysit. She’s 11, lol. But she is SO mature, just a great kid. I’d trust her now, but you know, laws and all that.

Ohhhh, where? Our move to the mountains was the best thing we've ever done. I love it here...totally my happy place! I'm excited for you!
I tore a ligament in my hip in early October and have been trying to rest it to avoid surgery, but we've been so busy this week that I haven't really been able to. It was really bothering me yesterday so I'm just planning on doing a whole lot of nothing today to rest it a bit. It's really hard to rest it when you are single parenting, and the PT wants me to basically keep my upper body aligned with my lower body at all times, not cross my legs when I sit, and not put a lot of weight directly on it. You don't realize how often you twist your upper body until you are trying not to.
Our district basketball tournament is next weekend, so I am taking DS to H and I am going to ride with a couple of other moms so I can watch DD. The place they are playing is 5 hours away and they don't play until 6:00 p.m. so I'll have to stay in a hotel room all alone. I CANNOT wait. I have basically been single parenting since the beginning of December (the kids and I stay at our house in school town during basketball season because practices are at super weird times and it's too hard on the kids, but H stays at home because we have guests in cabins and animals that can't be moved that need cared for). I love my kids, but I am tired of them and since dd will be traveling with the team, I won't see her that much. LOL.
DH and I had a really nice date last night, and I slept well and actually feel rested, so I'm planning to cram in all of the weekend errands before I pick up kids from various places and the rest of the regular weekend to do's after that.
Off for the holiday tomorrow, going to try to clean out/reorganize a couple of closets if I get everything done today.
I started a new adhd medication combo and holy shit. I feel “normal” for the first time since before I got pregnant (3+ years ago).
Speaking of meds, I start Humira next week. I’m kind of nervous with Covid and whatnot, but the doc was pretty reassuring. Anyone have any anecdotes to tell me about being on Humira?

What are your laws? DS1 was able to take the Red Cross Super Sitter course at 11.
styme46, Granby. It’ll be a great spot for winter skiing, but I might be even more excited to have a place to go during the summer. I love summer in the mountains. It’s close to Rocky Mountain national park too, which we’ve never been to.

Interesting- I thought it was 13, but I’ll have to double check!

We spend almost every weekend in June in Granby/Fraser for baseball and a few weekends during dd's sports seasons, so we are well acquainted with it! Our kids can ski free at Granby Ranch with their school id's, but we don't really ski so we've never taken advantage of it. That's super exciting!

Is this where I say I was babysitting at 11? I mean it was 1996/1997, but still.
We had grand plans to go to the National Holocaust museum today, but they are doing limited timed entry tickets and I kept getting errors when I tried to get them at 7am, so I was unable to get them. I am disappointed, I haven't been there since I was 13 and my H has never been, so we had hoped it would work out. I don't know what to do today now... Maybe just staying home. My H just got a new video game yesterday that he is pretty excited about, so I think he might be content just relaxing today.
Maybe I will finally do some painting? Right now I'm just reading and drinking coffee. I am not usually up before 7 on a weekend.
I haven’t been there since high school, but I still remember it pretty clearly. It definitely made an impact.
I went to the Holocaust memorial in Berlin and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Definitely impactful.
My DS came home from school on Friday and asked why 69 was so funny. I asked what he meant and he said all the girls in his class say 69 and then laugh. Sigh.
Funny story - DH LOVES sleeping on the couch. It’s not the location, it’s the actual couch. Separate beds is fine with me since I hate being touched when I sleep.
I have been wanting a new couch for this house because it’s too wide for the narrow living room.
We are now going to do a twin or full sized bed and move the couch into the master bedroom 😂
Yep, science fair project weekend has been just as frustrating as I expected it to be 😩. There’s math, definitions and my husband has lots of feelings about the quality of the photos. Thankfully we talked DS out of the project that required tons of potatoes, or else this would be even worse.
I’ve been on humira on and off for several years now. As for Covid, I just wear a mask and avoid crowds of unmasked people but I probably would do that anyway. I did get my booster pretty early as well. I have not gotten a second booster and I did not get a 3rd full dose shot cause my doc didn’t think I needed it.
As for the rest, humira has been really effective for me for both crohns and HS (my body really likes inflammatory diseases apparently). Sometimes my HS gets a little antsy before the next dose but it goes back down once I’m dosed.
And I don’t think they make regular humira anymore but if they do, get the citrate free if the needles hurt. The citrate free needles are smaller and you barely feel them.
Other than that, you can leave them at room temp for 14 days if you’re traveling or anything. And I use the humira sharps containers and send them back through the mail. You can get em at humira.com
Feel free to reach out with any other questions! Good luck!
coltsfan85 thank you so much for the info! I also have HS and that’s what this is for. I’m so glad it works for you! I know how hard and painful HS can be; it must be a huge relief that it works!
I have been in a walking boot for a week now and the pain has not subsided one bit. They took xrays to rule out a hairline fracture but wanted to wait two weeks for an MRI as they think it is just tendonitis but the pain level I am still at has me worried I am looking at some sort of surgery.
isabel, that cornbread looks delicious, and I've just signed my H up to try making it at some point in the future. He was like, "shouldn't I try and master regular, non-fancy cornbread first?" And I told him he'd be fine and to just dive right in.
Looking back on my meal list, between my H cooking, popping in a Costco meatloaf, my SIL cooking, and reheating leftovers, I haven't really cooked since the 7th. I'm going to continue that trend tonight by sending my H out for TBD takeout.
The weather has shifted from sunny and cool, to rainy, dreary and colder, and it's not helping my headache situation this afternoon. I think I'm going to scrap my usual heavy Saturday workout for yoga, a hot bath, and reading.
I’ve not actually tried it yet, so let me know how he does! Not cooking for multiple weeks sounds amazing! I highly encourage you to keep that up.
I got into freezer meals when pregnant with Ds1 and still love them. It just makes evenings so much easier.

Just had a funny moment of Facebook saving the day. My doorbell rang and it was our neighbor holding a Chipotle order that was left on his porch. The last name on it was similar to mine so he thought it was ours but it wasn’t. He took it back to his porch in case the driver came back for it. I decided to search the local FB mom’s page for the name on the bag and found one person with that name. I messaged her where she could find the food, figuring she’d probably never even see the message and if she did, it wasn’t her food and she’d think I’m a creep.
Lo and behold 10 minutes later she wrote back thanking me and said her H went and retrieved it from the neighbor’s porch! Apparently her toddler had been up screaming their head off and she was hangry and about to rip Chipotle a new one when she saw the message.
My step kid’s mom traveled this week to Nigeria to meet a man she met online. We found out when she stopped at her layover and told my husband. She’s still there and we have the kids for the next week.
It has been a crazy weekend full of worry. I feel bad for my step kid.
