Forgive the belatedness...we were kind of up in the air about whether we'd do anything this year, but we've decided to go ahead with a very limited party, so bring on the puns!

As many of you know by now, every year we have an Oscar party with food themed to the Best Picture nominees.  Ideally they'd be puns on the movie title (e.g., "Corndog Millionaire" for "Slumdog Millionaire"; "Up in the Éclair" for "Up in the Air"), but if we need to we've gone outside that to make it something prominently featured in the film (e.g., milkshakes for There Will Be Blood).  A full slideshow of previous foods, or at least for as long as I've been altering posters to match, is here:

I love the idea of going with all fast food or all desserts to make things easy on yourself! Donut Look Up and Taco Belfast are just too great to not use!

Here’s some other ideas:

Nightmare Cali Burrito (they have french fries in them and can be breakfast style)

Midnightmare Snack Alley (snacks maybe spilling out of a tiny mini-fridge)

Don’t Look Upside Down Cake (pineapple)

Dune Spice Melange Cake (people have whole Dune themed dinner parties and apparently this spice is a thing so there’s lots of Dune_fill-in-the-blank options)

Drive My Sidecar (cocktail)
Drive My Carb-free_fill-in-the-blank

Stuffed Belfast Peppers

Licorice Pizza Rolls (do like a pig in a blanket with pillsbury dough, licorice, and jam or chocolate)

The Power of the Corndog (or any other type of hotdog, chili dog, etc.)

Chicken ala King
King Richard’s Spotted Dick (terrible but it’s a British dish and it works)
King Richard Cake (put a mini Oscar 🏆 the cake instead of the King Cake baby)

WesternSide Story Spaghetti (western spaghetti sometimes with with wagon wheel pasta)
Western Side Omelettes
WesternSide Potatoes

CODA is tough…There’s Italian dishes called Coda Alla Vaccinara and Coda in Padella which are ox or pork tails, but they don’t sound very appetizing. Coda means tail in Italian so you could do anything like Lobster Tail and make up a Coda/ Italian name for it. Bagna Cauda (Bagna Coda?) is another Italian dish which is like a dip/ fondue sauce you dip bread into.

You could do Drive My Bar and SODA and have one sign by the alcoholic drink selections and one by a fun display of speciality sodas.

Oh, this is smart -- honestly, I'm probably just gonna get smoked whitefish salad from the deli and call it good.  :-)  I've learned to pick my battles since they went up from 5 Best Picture nominees to 10!
