I need to replace my laundry room/mudroom floor. I'm really drawn to patterned tiles (in a neutral color), but I'm wondering if they look busy or too farmhouse-y? It's not a very big room but it is off my family room so it's visible from there. In addition to the washer/dryer, I also have an Ikea Expedit shelving unit with games, bins and stuff.
I'd love to see pictures if you have this! I can find plenty on pinterest but I'm looking for patterned tile in a "real" room that has other stuff in it.

I think those are ceramic tiles inspired by cement tiles. I don't have those but I have a diagonal mint and light gray tile in a downstairs bathroom. It's fun to put a little pattern on the floor. Esp in an otherwise boring/utilitarian space.
I do think the cement tile look your posted is going to look a little dated in a few years (bit of a trend). But not all trends are bad or age poorly - so if you like it, go for it!

I ended up not doing it but I was considering this for our laundry/mudroom. I think the marble look balances out the potential trendiness of the pattern.

We did this tile from Porcelanosa in our master bathroom and I love it. It’s color on color so not crazy bold but it’s beautiful and better in person than photos.
ETA. We redid our bathroom in 2018 and I’m not sure these are still available but there seem to be more similar options now than there were then. It photographs way darker than it is in real life.

Yes, I do worry about that. I love it now and have for a couple years - but I'm only doing this floor once.

Looks great! I would for a lighter tone as well. I like the darker ones but I KNOW I'd get sick of that. I feel like a soft beige/gray would be ok down the road but I don't want to mess this up, LOL.

We were very close to pulling the trigger on encaustic tiles for our bathroom floor. They were bright green and white and I loved them. Then I read that you have to seal them and that they'll still stain if you don't clean up spills right away. That was a big nope. I was bummed though because I really liked the bright colors and patterns they come in.
We did this for a bathroom, but with a bold black and white pattern. The room is tiny and the space is pretty odd (former attic). It fits in well with our house, which is historic and funky.

I very much love them, and I also feel like the laundry room is the perfect place to do something fun like that. My only hesitation is I feel like it is very trendy right now, and I'm guessing it'll be the thing everyone claims is 'dated' and out in another year or two, and if that is the kind of thing that would bother you if it's visible from your main living area, then it might bother you on a daily basis.
I like it but I think it is very trendy right now so I would worry it would go out of style or I’d get sick of it. I like the idea of a light pattern and feel like it can be classic and neutral enough that people will always love it. It’s not like you have to worry about resale value because it’s way nicer than most laundry room floors. And really, most tile goes in and out of style.

I like them. I could never sell my DH on any kind of patterned tile though (except he really wants feature tile behind the stove) so I don’t have any. I clicked through your link and it was soft colours and I love it. I also think the porcelain lookalike will hold up better than actual encaustic.
I would go for it and not worry for a minute about resale or getting bored of it. There are entire houses in Portugal with bright tile all over the exterior for over 100 years. They look great!

I’m so late to this, but we used that exact tile in our basement bathroom at the end of 2019. I still love it! Here’s a pic where you can see it. It’s actually decently lighter than in this picture and not as brown. Definitely more taupe/gray than what this looks like.

Yes, your floor looks exactly like mine! I didn't get the tiles from Lowes that I posted above. I got them from a local tile store and the color is a little darker than the Lowes version.
