He's probably going to be fine and in the meantime the timing is FUCKING ASS.
Tomorrow there is an arbitration dispute being heard.
Very short gist of it is that its Taco Bell employees suing for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and Eight Circuit said Taco Bell could force individual arbitration of their claims and avoid a class action lawsuit in federal court.
The conservative justices tend to vote as a block on arbitration in favor of corporations, but Thomas has said some stuff in concurrences that make him the justice that is targetted for switching.
Getting him, much less a fifth justice, was a long shot, but without him, it's bleak. Maybe Gorsuch switches, but without one more, we're stuck with 4/4 and the Eighth Circuit stands and the employees are screwed.
The next arbitration case is on March 30, and I think those are the only two on the calendar for the entire year so again I say this timing is FUCKING ASS.
The House passed a bill on Friday to end mandatory arbitration in consumer and employment contracts, so call your senators so we end this fucking madness.
Unrelated: the lawyer arguing for the employees tomorrow is fucking awesome, and rumored to be on Biden's shortlist for the DC CIrcuit. She's young, brilliant, the best anti-arbitration lawyer in the country, and legally blind. So listen in!
NPR this morning says he will still participate in decisions this week, just using briefs/transcripts/recordings from the hearings that he won't be present for.

Yes this is good news!
I fucking hate that Trump got three picks and the only way to survive these days is to root for an asshole.

It's not like he ever asks a question. I hate that this is a best case scenario.
Virginia Thomas, a conservative activist married to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, repeatedly pressed White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to pursue unrelenting efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in urgent text exchanges in the critical weeks following the vote, according to copies of the messages obtained by CBS News chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa and Bob Woodward of The Washington Post.
frankly, I wouldn't put it past his wife and others to do some sort of Weekend at Bernie's thing with him. look at the texts that have come out today in the cbs link already posted and also the Washington post. completely bonkers.

I do not want to be right because I do not actively wish death on people, but I have a gut feeling he's dead or really, REALLY sick.
The other possibility is that he's already been discharged as was expected during the Sunday press release. (someone suggested on Twitter). They just haven't wanted to divulge any more info one way or the other, and they said they wouldn't.
Though I think it's more likely he *is* still in the hospital.

Is this a good place to reflect on the fact that SCOTUS voted on releasing the text to the Jan 6th committee, and the vote was 8-1, with Thomas being the only NO vote, when he VERY OBVIOUSLY should have recused himself? Can one hope there may be more fall-out and this is all a rouse as they try to figure out how to cover all their misdeeds up?

What I wonder- WHO would be the one to drive the process to oust him? He is SO CLEARLY tainted. So clearly. It's laughable for anyone to try and say otherwise.
But the state of our government.... I won't give up hope, but I've also lost so much faith that what is right will win out here. The GOP was already veering down this path (thanks Mitch, in particular), but Trump opened up the flood gates.
