There is so much general craziness that you have to deal with working in a library that I feel terrible about the librarians and staff that need to take the current cultural nastiness on.

I have to admit that I'm glad my mom is not working in the library right now (she's retired for many years). She would get so pissed off that she'd probably end up getting hurt somehow by someone. I hate that this is happening in the States (and hoping it doesn't make its way here like so much of the right wing idiocy seems to try to do - we have enough idiocy to deal with right now).
Does this smugass person think they are tough shit? This is all so childish I wonder if it’s a teen or something bc this feels very If Zach Morris Was a White Supremest foolishness. And we know they like to hook them in young.
You don’t like a book? Don’t read it. It’s not that hard. Who’s the special snowflake now if they can’t control themselves around a book display?
We hadn’t had many book challenges in a really long time. We’ve had 9…in 2022. If you value the freedom to read for you and your children, now is the time to support your public libraries. Watch for board meeting agendas and go speak during public comments when necessary, write op eds in local papers supporting the freedom to read, check out the controversial books so their circ numbers are high (read them too!), fill out comment cards thanking the library for having them on the shelves (those will go to the library board), if your libraries don’t own these books request they be purchased.

Slight tangent: Library worker appreciation day is this Tuesday, today I’m prepping our Friends’ effort towards acknowledging it for our local branch. Thank you hermioneVelar Fricative and others for what you do!!
