There's this software that I think is awesome - Name Coach. It started to support correct name reading at commencement ceremonies. The software now integrates into all manner of Higher Ed softwares - LMS, Student Information Systems, and includes options for community members to state pronouns.
I started talking to them about 2 years ago and started making a push for us to adopt it. The cost is so minimal compared to the other systems we have on a college campus. Everyone who learned about it loved it, but I could not find someone to pay for it. My boss is broken with me asking about this, but is supportive.
I just found out we got funded!!!! I'm so excited of course they want it in place for commencement in 6 week - probably not going to happen - but I swear I'm going to whatever I can to make this a success.
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
This is awesome! When I worked at the Air Force Academy, they asked all squadrons to provide an audio file of the correct pronunciation of each graduate’s name, and the two people who read the names studied them so they could say all the names correctly. Granted, there were only 900ish names, but the narrators took their jobs VERY seriously!!!
The high is 93 here today. The A/C is broken in my office. It's too hot. Ugh!
Sorry your AC is broken. That sucks,
It's 33 and snowing in my city in central WA state. Thankfully my heat is working. The last time there was snow in April in my city was before I was born.

I had my EMG/nerve conductance study this morning, and it definitely wasn’t the most enjoyable thing I’ve experienced (those shocks hurt), but no signs of permanent nerve damage. So that’s good, and hopefully my symptoms will start to resolve soon.

Our pet/house sitter has gone incommunicado less than two weeks before our trip and I'm flipping out. H thinks we should board them, but then I have to get them into the vet to update their vaccines. Also, old dog barely leaves the house and hates the vet, so I'm sure a boarding facility would freak her out, and the young dog is selectively reactive and wouldn't be happy staying in a small room all day (they're both aussies).

Scout'sHonor, I'd be freaking out. This is my biggest worry for our trip to the US that something happens to the person who is meant to look after Cooper.

My husband clearly has allergies. He's in denial because he didn't have them growing up but I can't convince him that this foggy, stuffy, yucky feeling he gets like clockwork every spring and fall for the last 5 years is allergies.
The result is he doesn't take my suggestions that maybe try the Zyrtec consistently for a week rather than give up when things aren't perfect again on day 2.

My mom was in the hospital two weeks ago because of her atrial fibrillation. Last night, my dad went to the hospital because his legs were week and his blood pressure was really high. They said it wasn't a heart attack, but needed to do bloodwork to figure out what was going on. He's been admitted and they still aren't sure what it is.
It's always something. Did I mention that my sister's wedding is in 6 days? My family is exhausting.
(And yes, I deal with things through humor. My joke has been for a while that if I went back to NJ every time someone in my family was in the hospital, I'd have to move back.)

This was me for YEARS because I didn't start having allergies until after college. I would wonder why I had a headache and why I was so tired and my husband would gently remind me every time.
I started taking allegra every day last year or the year before and realized I needed to switch after I started complaining again.

He's had a sinus headache every morning this week. But still, apparently convinced it's a fluke and not allergies.

I was able to find someone late yesterday who already came and met the pups, so feeling better now, phew!

eponinepontmercy I think the 6th day in a row did him in. He asked me which allergy medicine he should take, since I have Claritin, Allegra, and Zyrtec. I'm thinking about pre-emptively buying him some Xyzal in case the Zyrtec doesn't work.

I got a new job!! It’s actually a job I’ve been wanting running a small local nonprofit that I consult for, but they’ve always had a low salary for the Executive Director role. After seeing two inexperienced EDs crash and burn, we negotiated and they upped the salary to what I am looking for and we signed an agreement. No more work travel! No more terrible leadership (I already know the Board)! No more paycut for illogical reasons! My office is two miles from home and work hours are flexible as long as the work is done.

A few years ago, fucking FB memories made me notice that I complained about a summer cold the same week every year. Turns out, it was also the height of ragweed season.
I just ordered French and Spanish flashcards. I've been trying to brush up on my French and learn some Spanish for my trip but the apps I've tried haven't worked. And then I remembered that I used to use flash cards to study in high school and college and the format really worked well for me. I'm excited!
winecat, awesome! I love my taos sneakers. I kind of want new ones, but have no justification. I have two pairs, and they are still in really good condition.
rubytue- I got the Plim leather ones. I wanted one of the canvas pairs but they didn't have any in my size and they said to size up 1/2 a size so I figured it wasn't worth trying. Some people said that they had to size down on the leather style so hopefully it'll work for me and my giant feet.
The shoes discussion made me fall down a rabbit hole of waterproof sneakers. I have a pair of Sorel out and about, but I wore them out and about in the yard when we were reseeding, and got them so caked with mud they looked like I needed to relegate them to yard shoes. After not finding anything under $150, I brought them in and gave them a good scrub in the slop sink, and they appear like I can wear them in public again. I really wanted them for our summer vacation (Yellowstone), for days that aren’t full hiking boots.
Man I get annoyed at having difficult feet. Or really, why it costs >$100 to have something with arch support. Even the Sorels need an aftermarket insole. 🤬

I loved the blue non-drowsy allergy pill from Costco. Whenever I share someone asks for their specific brand and I'm like this is what I've got. Within a few days I'll get a note that it is the best allergy pill around.

Is the actual pill blue or the wrapper on the bottle?
