Do you think our pendant lights are too small?
I like that they’re simple and visually not disruptive (dining room light facing this room is quite a lot). I know I could go bigger, not sure if I need to. Since I waited 4 mos for these to deliver, there’s a similar timeframe on the others, and $500 more each.
I would, and actually try and just change out globes, so the hardware is unused (and no electrician cost).
I think they do look small but I can’t decide if that’s because it’s currently trendy to use very oversized pendants or if because they are really too small…
They definitely need to be lowered, but, also, if you can add a third (I know it would mean more work through moving the existing and patching or adding a plate), it would look more balanced.
I think lighting choices are so personal. If you like the look and will be living with the choice, and you like it, it’s perfect.
Personally, I would go with two larger fixtures or three of the smaller, but that is the aesthetic I like, and my three pendants over my 8’ island are pretty chunky and a very specific look. But I love them, and that’s all that matters to me.

I thought they should be lowered at first too, but then I wondered if it's just an illusion because of the archway covering the top so you can't tell where the actual ceiling is. If you look at them relative to the back cabinets they look too high, but relative to the sink they look like they couldn't go much lower. I would say if you're really on the fence more pics from different angles would give people a better sense of how they actually look in the space. But, as you said, just changing out the globes is probably not going to be difficult or expensive so it's worth a try if it's bugging you.

I intentionally asked the builder to only install two, I prefer that. I think I’ll keep the size then, but ask h what he thinks about lowering them.
There is a lot about these I love and haven’t been able to find elsewhere. (Hand blown dimpled glass that’s not seeded or have an open bottom among the things I love)
fwiw they’re 36” from the top of the countertop, which I want to say is what he said they were from the ceiling.

I think as long as you like them and they're producing enough functional light without being distractingly glare-y, then keep them. I probably would have gone with three lights over the island, but that's being nitpicky. I always tell clients that it doesn't really matter what anyone else likes, they're the ones who need to live with it!

Thanks again everyone. I’m keeping them as is. They give off a subtle light we like when we don’t want the big overheads on. And we had some people over this weekend and they all liked them. (They also said three, but I’m really not a fan of that look)
