I’m loving the theme this year, but I’m also a sucker for Art Deco details in fashion!

Kim K wore a famous Marilyn Monroe dress (authentic on the red carpet, replica the rest of the event). This has started all sorts of debate in another group I’m in…whether it’s the real dress, whether the original has a seam down the center, whether she should have taken the dress out of a museum to wear, who wore it better, whether different hair or a more Marilyn hairstyle would have been better, etc.

It makes me LOL because I think it is the Kardashian MO to do something to be talked about on the internet a lot. I don’t love anyone wearing an iconic dress like that because I think you’ll never be able to top the original, which is different than wearing other less famous designer vintage gowns, but it does fit the theme well.

I think the guilded age (and all the rich people money that came with it) kicked off an American architectural renaissance centered in NYC and that eventually led to the Art Deco movement.

I was actually just reading an article about all the "hub-bub" around her wearing this dress.

Most of the time, when people get upset about Shitty Topic A when Shitty Topic B is also taking place, I think "two shitty things can happen at once.  We can be angry about both".

But this time - I'm fully in the camp of "Women's rights are on the precipice of being taken away, which will only open the door for SO MANY OTHER rights to be taken away - I could give a fuck what Kim wore to the Met".

And she truly didn't. The fur coat she wore draped behind her was to cover that the dress couldn't be zipped over her butt implants and was basically just tied at the waist while being wide open below the tie: link
