As a homeschool parent: not shocked. I think TX homeschool rules don't require any oversight or notification- correct me if I'm wrong because I no longer live there. So, easy enough to keep kids out of the system for ANY reason.

However, getting ready to move to Ontario, where there is also no oversight, but it feels much less . . . slimy.
