We're starting to look into a WDW trip next May 2023. We also love beaches and dh really wants to see the Atlantic, so adding on a couple days at Vero Beach seems like an easy way to add some beach time. Has anyone been here? Would you recommend it? Or is there another beach and resort not too far from Disney that's on the Atlantic that you would recommend?
We went in April 2019. It was really nice and very relaxed. The beach is right there, the resort is very nice and it doesn't feel crowded at all. You do have to pay to rent their chairs and umbrellas, but I don't recall it being too much. You can also bring your own. Their pool is pretty good sized and they have a fun mini-golf course. They also have bikes to rent and you can tour the area. It is pretty hard to get into unless you book right on your point's booking date because it is smaller.
We love Disney's Vero Resort and go every other year or so with my in laws. Their restaurants are good, it has the high cleanliness standards that Disney always aspires to, the beach is nice. Pool is great. We always enjoy our time there.
We're planning our first Disney trip this fall, and are tacking on 3 nights in Cocoa Beach at the end to spend at the beach and visiting the Space Center. It's only an hour from WDW. Our hotel is right on the beach.
Obviously we haven't been yet, so I can't say whether I'd recommend it over Vero or not, so just another opinion, but I wouldn't feel bound to staying at another Disney resort after leaving WDW, and there is a ton of coastline in FL to choose from.

Thank you! I think we're going to make the longer drive to the gulf coast and stay on Anna Maria Island, then fly out closer to there. The beaches there just look so amazing.
