Happy Sunday! I am normally a ML lurker but could use some color inspiration. We finally had our offer accepted on our new home and I am just not a fan of the red door. I am not afraid of color but this door is just so red. At first I was thinking a deeper maroon or burgundy because of the brick but I was talking to someone who lives in the neighborhood and she said the door used to be the prettiest shade of blue. I joked that she needs to find the paint chip and I'll make it happen. Any one wish to give any input?
Playing around (for way too long!) with the Sherwin Williams tool I Susie shared I am liking Interesting Aqua and Bravo Blue. really like both shades of blue shared in this post.
dr.girlfriend, I suppose we could try to sand the red to see what's underneath. The blue must have been an "in-between" color so I'm not sure if that would make a difference. When I do a street view on Google maps the door is a dark burgundy. Would it be possible to only remove the top layer? My brain is saying probably not but I'm game to find out how.
You could do almost anything! I like the teal a lot, or hunter green, soft yellow. Red would be fine, but I do think that particular red is a bit too much. I might go with something that would look good with my Christmas decor! My aunt & uncle used to have a house in those colors with a red door and it looked great, but again, the red wasn't quite so...neon-ish.
My house is a similar color/style. Our front door is Hale Navy at the moment. It's fine, but chipping, so we will be repainting soon. I love the dark teal. I like the light color, but don't want to mess with keeping it looking clean.
I love red doors on white homes with black shutters. I think it's a classic look. However, that red reads pretty orange in that picture. I would prefer more of a blue-undertone red.

I love dr.girlfriend, teal and also the blue Susie, shared. I think blues can be a bit hard - or maybe it's just my neighborhood - LOL! I see quite a few blue doors and when I look at them they all look a touch "off" like not quite Tiffany blue or almost baby blue never the right shade IMO.
