I live in lynnwood, and the commute to "the large airplane company" is about 10 minutes from here. Rent for a 1bdrm is about 7-800 depending on where. Other good nearby cities to look at is mill creek or mukilteo.
Where are you moving from? Compared to most cities Seattle and its suburbs are very safe. The theft rate is a high if you live in the city but that's about it. I guess I don't know which parts of which suburbs have meth problems.
If you work in Everett and decide to live in Seattle, I would just be sure to live well North of the U-District. I-5 South during even rush hour there is a zoo.

if we're talking crime, i'd stay out of "downtown" everett and north. that's where it gets scary and where the drugs are..car break-in's happen in most everett apartment complexes, but i wouldn't let that alone scare me away from everett. it's inexpensive to live in everett, but your budget allows you to live outside of it, so i would.
"the airplane company" is in south everett, and generally safe(r).

I would say to stay away from Casino Road and the apartments that are right there on 99, too. Those are high crime areas, too.

Agreed, although Marysville is north and a relatively easy commute into this airplane place and safe, with a little bit more variety of housing for a reasonable price. If I worked there, I top picks to live would be Marysville, Mukilteo, or Lynnwood.
When we first moved to the area, we lived in the Heritage Ridge apartments in Lynnwood. The address is Larch Way, but part of the complex faces 164th, so it's easy to find (right across the street from Martha Lake). Our apartment was nice, we had no issues with neighbors or anything, and it was super easy access to I-5 (and only about 10-15 minutes from your new job if traffic is good). It should be in your price range, unless they've hiked rates since we moved out. I would feel safe living there alone.
