Allergies are so bad right now! DD2 had a runny nose and mild cough this morning. She rapid tested negative, but I felt so bad dropping her off at daycare. I *think* it is allergies (the pollen is *insane* right now, it is so gross covering everything). I'm half expecting them to call me to pick her up any minute. But if I kept her home for those symptoms, she'd be home all month.
Same here- runny nose, cough, congestion. No fever, so I keep testing and sending him. He's had this every couple of weeks since masks came off in March and not once has tested positive somehow, but has missed something like 15 (or more - I've lost track) days this year because we were keeping him home whenever he was sick/waiting for results. He just got his booster a week and a half ago, so I am doubtful this could be Covid. But he had a birthday party over the weekend and they double booked the space so we were in a small room with a bunch of randoms and none of us were masked, so not great, Bob!
He's got 6 more days of school, and I am just trying to get through it so we can (hopefully!) give our immune systems a break before the next year starts. Every time he gets sick, one or both of us get it, and I. am. OVER it.
I definitely would not count on not having those negative tests checked by the airline. Every flight I’ve taken, I’ve been asked for my negative test on check in when returning to the USA.
Sorry to all of you dealing with COVID. The number of people here and that I know in person who have been careful but have now been infected twice is insane.
We, knock on wood, have still been lucky... but that's truly what it is at this point. One more week of school to get through and then we can relax a little on that front.
Cases are clearly on the decline here from May's surge, but I just made DD (6)'s app't for a booster next week. I have mixed feelings on it vs. waiting a little longer for cases to be on the upswing again, but in the end I don't want her to end up exposed and not considered fully vaxxed, and have to deal with all that.

Still lucky here. None of us has gotten it, but DS has some gnarly allergies, so we just keep giving Claritin and his symptoms clear up no problem. We test pretty regularly (about once a week if not more) so we're pretty sure we've been okay.
At work, we have a student medical assistant who was here this week and tested positive yesterday, and several of us were around her unmasked (me included). We have an immunocompromised and unvaccinated coworker who is her mentor, and now she's out for a week due to 'high risk exposure'. Luckily it won't affect staffing too much except for today.
DH flies out to NOLA on Saturday, and we've gotten KN95s for him to wear on the flights. I fly out to be with him next Wednesday, and I'm contemplating wearing an N95, but I'll probably just wear a KN95. Luckily most of the things we'll do there will be outdoors, but my gut tells me this might be the thing that gets us Covid.
My poor brother and SIL….my brother got COVID about four weeks ago. Their toddler had to stay home from daycare because he was a close contact and is too young for vaccination. SIL tested positive a week later so toddler’s quarantine for exposure started over. He finally went back to daycare for ONE DAY, and now HE tested positive. They both work FT and she is pregnant with twins. He will have been home for almost 30 work days while they are still paying the $$$$ daycare bill.
Since we JUST had covid, can we go babysit him for a night while they catch up on work and then go to bed super early? I can’t be reinfected one week later, right?

Spoke too soon. Just found out my mom tested positive. We were with her for most of Saturday.
We're all asymptomatic and it's only four days after exposure. But tomorrow is her class party (parents are actually invited) and Friday is field day (I am volunteering). CDC guidance says to mask for 10 days if you're fully vaccinated (DD got her booster), but I am wondering if we should just keep her home?

Oof, I'd go babysit. Once the last of this annoying congestion goes away I'm giving myself 70 days of do-whatever-the-hell-I-want lol. I'd say 90 but I do know a couple of people reinfected around 80 days later so I'm trying to be conservative.

So awful for them. You know how I am about covid but I would be willing to babysit for them if I’d had covid less than 2-3 weeks ago. Reinfection is happening at closer intervals but by all accounts 2 weeks is safe. 3 weeks is when you start to get into “unusual but is definitely happening” territory.

I’m sorry to everyone struggling right now. This final stretch to the <5 approval is eating me alive. We still haven’t had covid somehow. We will see what happens between now and full vaccination in August. Plan is to unblind and crossover from placebo in our Moderna trial ASAP but the mixed signals on exact timing for that across trial sites is frustrating. Hopeful we can get in for 1st crossover appt the week of the 19th.
Meanwhile the rollout for this vaccine is messy as shit and everyone else seems to think someone else is going to handle it. Pharmacy vaccination for kids <3 isn’t possible in most states and even CVS Minute Clinics, if they get the vaccines, aren’t able to vaccinate under 18mo. Pediatricians seem to be confused and a lot of state health departments are centralizing pre- orders so providers are in the dark. Some health departments (like RI - sob) are not pre ordering in the first wave of orders at all, saying they “have” to wait for full approval to order anything, which means they will need to order in the second wave which will delay shots in arms. (RIDOH is also massively confused about the timeline, they are still insisting ACIP won’t meet until June 21&22 when new ACIP dates were announced last week. Unreal.) The complete and total unwillingness to plan for this completely expected scenario is making me bitter and angry. They had almost 6 EXTRA months to plan for this rollout to be a success but with federal funding ending and state and local health depts moving on from covid response the vaccine distribution infrastructure has completely collapsed in the past month. We are truly being let down by the institutions we should be able to trust. Just another day in America.

I am on day 8, and I keep being surprised at how congested I am still. I'm 34.5 weeks pregnant, and despite being vaccinated and boosted, Covid landed me in the hospital for 2 nights last week in premature labor and dilated to 3cm. (First child.)
I was given Remdesivir (two doses), and even with that I'm still symptomatic (albeit better) and having contractions that are now controlled by medication. And I'm on mostly bed rest. I'm really glad I didn't get it earlier, if this is how my body is reacting. At least if the baby did come now, he'd be okay.
My husband had it over Christmas (we isolated and I didn't get it), and he's been fine so far this time. We haven't isolated. I'm really sick of Covid, but also really happy that I won't end up delivering Covid positive.

I am so sorry!! I hope you and baby get through this quickly.
The congestion really is no joke. I’m on day 8 too and I can’t believe how many tissues I’ve needed. Just weeks ago DH joked about the obscene amount of tissue boxes we have in the house and now…glad we had them!

We had a close contact on Sunday from a family member. And we're also in the final days of the school year. We've been sending our vaxxed elementary kids to school but they're taking a rapid test every morning, and they wear masks at school. And we're doing a PCR 5 days post exposure.
In your shoes, I'd send her with a mask and rapid test daily if you can.
Has this been posted yet? Moderna seeks authorization for an omicron specific booster. That's good news! Maybe that is what we will all get in the fall?

And seriously! I have gone through so many tissues! You are so right about that. Having a stash definitely benefitted you here! I had to ask my DH to pick some more up.
I just went to my first in person conference in years and it made me pretty uncomfortable. No one masking but me. 250 people in one room.
Then one of our directors shows up to our meeting on the last day and casually drops that the moderator for her panel just texted her he was COVID positive. Sigh.
Oh look, my prediction about getting COVID came true - I just tested positive today. I knew this was going to happen. Fingers crossed nobody else in my household gets it!
My mom has had COVID for a month and 3 days. She was negative for a week and now positive again. Took Paxlovid. Symptoms definitely went away and then came back strong. Sounds like Paxlovid rebound, right?
They are on vacation. Left when they were testing negative and she was doing better. Now they had to get a chest xray, bloodwork, and stronger meds halfway through their trip. I really hope my dad doesn't get it. He's avoided it so far but they have been unmasked this whole week.
Sorry for everyone and hoping we'll get through this.
My husband was exposed on Sunday. I was not with him at the family event he was at. Anyway he was congested/tired Tuesday and Thursday he tested for first time and he was positive.
I have asthma. II would have been exposed I guess from Sun - Thur morning when he tested +. We live in a 760 square foot apt so we've been isolating since yesterday, wearing masks and not sleeping in the same room.
What day would I be in the clear? I tested negative yesterday and will test again on Sunday? Thanks for the help!

Day 5 after the last day of exposure is the guidance for testing.

We are getting pizza and ice cream cake for DD2’s birthday today and the thought of not being able to taste any of it is more depressing than I ever imagined it would be.

I made a separate thread, but the US announced it is dropping the testing requirement for inbound flights as of this coming Sunday.
Found out today that a kid in DS's class tested positive Wed night. The mom told me, the school hasn't said anything. We have a bunch of plans this weekend. I guess we just mask and test?

I’m so sorry. I lost taste & smell last time for about two weeks. I was hoping with this “milder” version, I could avoid it. Nope. Lost it today, day 6 of symptoms. It sounds so silly, but I’m right there with you. It sucks.
I could taste a hint of salt on my extra salty popcorn today, so I’m hoping it won’t last long.
This version really hasn’t been significantly milder than Delta for me. I’ve been down most of the week. Drove my son to something today and sat in the car for an hour. Came home exhausted and had to take a nap.

Omg I missed that you had it too, I’m so sorry. So much for Omicron not impacting taste and smell.

Just my experience, but my oldest son was symptomatic on a Friday. Rest of kids (3) tested positive by Wednesday. Husband positive on Friday. I was positive on the following Thursday (and I tested myself daily until then). So it was almost two weeks from my first kid who had it before I tested positive. Super annoying

Our pediatricians office is scheduling vaccines for 6m-4 years starting June 24. If everything goes through my 4 year old will be fully vaccinated before our Disney trip.
Sorry for everyone and hoping we'll get through this.

Was anyone isolating from each other? I tested positive on Thursday after a rapid onset of symptoms and keep wondering if there is any chance DH and kids can avoid getting it. They are negative, so far, and I’m hiding in the basement and bedroom. DH even got a PCR yesterday out of curiosity/hoping it will detect more.
I thought we had a ridiculous stash of rapid tests, but don’t have enough to test the 3 of them daily, so trying every 2-3 days for now. Today is day 14 after the kids’ boosters so hoping that helps them!

H had covid last month and none of the rest of us got it. DS had already had it in January, but DD and I hadn't. He started feeling sick overnight Monday night and was coughing while in bed with me. He had also driven DD to/from practice Monday evening.
He tested positive Tuesday and started somewhat isolating. He slept in the basement and wore a kn95 whenever he was upstairs.
I tested (negative) on day 5 and day 7. DD tested (negative) on day 5. Never had symptoms and it appears we never ended up getting it from him.

No we didn't bother. We were in a hotel room together and drove many hours in a car before we realized the kids had it, so at that point it wasn't worth it. My kids are too young to isolate anyway.
Could someone please tell me I am being a hypochondriac? I am 13 days out from a positive test, and I’m feeling a throbbing heat every few minutes in the back of my leg. My anxiety has convinced me that I have a post-covid blood clot. Please tell me I would need more symptoms than that for a blood clot and I just pulled a muscle.
