We don't generally tie allowance to chores. He gets $5 a week. We use BusyKid, which auto-transfers the money from my account to a debit account with BusyKid. It automatically divides the money between Save, Spend and Share. . He can see and manage his money with an app on his iPad. BusyKid has a spend card, or he can use the "get cash" button to send money back to my account for me to give him in cash.
He did extra chores for money when he was saving up to upgrade his iPad. I assigned a value to chores he can do, and he checks them off and I get a message on Fridays to approve and transfer the money to him. There's a QR code so if he does chores for someone else (grandparents, neighbors), they can pay him with that by entering credit card information.
Thanks all. I think I prob need to wait until she's a little older. I just really want more help, and she's obsessed with money right now. Like she was thrilled to vacuum and get some money for it. Her only screen time is while I make dinner so it doesn't work out for me to take that away because I really need to have that free time to get dinner done. And then I can't really think of any other "currency" for her other then money lol. But I also don't have the capacity right now to remember what chores she should be doing them and make sure they're done. We will revisit in a year probably.
