Yes I am convinced they are working on it. It is a very complex case and they are approaching it like a mob case from the ground up. The fact that they already charged leaders of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers with seditious conspiracy shows they are serious. They also have communication between Proud Boys and people in the White House. I follow Teri Kanefield on Twitter and she always has a lot of good things to say about the process and why it takes so long.
The comments about Trump saying Pence would no longer be his friend - that's not actually laughable. Because with Trump, there was always implied expectations. If you aren't his friend, you are his enemy. If he is unhappy with you or disappointed with you, he wants you punished.
Trump effectively put a hit out on Pence when he said he was no longer his friend. And the fact that the Proud Boys began shouting to hang Pence immediately after Trump tweeted as much is evidence of that.
I hate everything Pence stands for, except this. In this regard, I appreciate that he had the integrity to stay within the limits of the law and his constitutional power. I'm quite certain he had the forethought that this was a moment in history and he did not want to go down like this in the annals.
Sort of off-topic, but did anyone else find Eric Herschmann's deposition background a bit . . . off?
The 50 Shades panda painting is sort of cool, but the baseball bat with "justice" written on it, and then whatever those things under it are? People used to 'bronze" baby shoes, but this looks like he did that with children's scalps? I've never seen anything like it. Looking for a photo . . .
Thanks fr the insight! Maybe it's that I had a case against him in his pre-White House life, and have opinions of him based on that experience. Everything about him is off to me. Based on that link, I am also not a fan of Tal Frank's art, I guess. LOL.

I lost my glasses and it will be next week before i even get an appointment, so i couldn't see the art well when I did see it. I DID notice the bat and was disturbed by it. I still can't make out the scalps except that you said that is what they are. How odd... off to read the article!

I actually think if Pence could have figured out a way to make the coup happen, he would have. That’s why he called Quayle to see what his options were.
I mean, I’m super glad he did the right thing. But some (and I’m not saying you) are framing him as a hero.
does anyone think the Justice Dept will go after Trump?
No. I will be thrilled to be proven wrong though.
There's still a grand jury investigation underway in Georgia. I do believe the DA will be able to get an indictment and will go after him hard, but not sure he will ever face any consequences.
The committee has made them an offer they shouldn’t refuse!
The more I'm reading, the more I'm worried the committee has fucked this up.
I haven’t seen anything about this yet. I really hope that’s not the case. Off to go look for some articles…if there was anything particularly good that you can find again, can you please share it here?
I also think they are waiting until after the midterms to do anything so it does not look political.
They have 2 years only though and if Biden doesn’t win, the case gets closed by the next attorney general. I just don’t think they have enough time. And if they swing, they can’t miss. It’ll just be a rallying call for maga.

I don’t understand what the agenda is for the committee not to help. All the interviews I saw this weekend were committee members saying we have our work to do and issue a report etc blah blah. They have a reason they obviously don’t want to help but no idea what that is. They’re working against each other.

I’m sorry, I might not be clear. Biden doesn’t need to win midterms ;though he should do his goddamn part). Democrats, progressives, and anyone else who believes fascism isn’t the way needs to both be present and understand what’s possible.
What’s happening is insane. Correction: what has happened is insane. I don’t know what to do.

I’m both on my honeymoon and my husband (!) and I have covid, so sorry if I’m not super clear

I'm not understanding the argument that the committee is messing everything up for DOJ. They've laid out their case with lots of testimony under oath and documentation. Aren't they doing work DOJ should be thankful for? I've only read quotes of complaint but not reasons why.
ETA Ah, shit, sorry. In looking for my link I didn't realize I was responding to an old thread. Nothing to see here.
