Relatively good news on the H front: he had his consult, and they felt it was likely that they could successfully repair the detachment with the gas bubble procedure in-office (vs. surgery). They are doing it right now. They are scheduling him for a surgical date after we're back from vacation as a backup, but they think it likely won't be necessary, the bubble will likely be enough. He will be seen in office again tomorrow before we leave, and on Tues or Wed at an ophthalmologist that's like 1-2 hours away from where we are vacationing. Not ideal, but not vacation-destroying. My dad will be with us, so either he can drive H to the consult, or he can watch the kids while I drive H (I am sure he'll choose to drive H, lol), so I won't be trying to drag the kids to the follow up.
The detachment is at the top, like 12'o clock position. Good news that he won't have to be in any super weird positions while he recovers. He will just have to keep his head mostly upright. He has to sleep sitting up, which probably means an arm chair in the LR. Which means I will get the bed to myself, ha. I'm looking for any perks at all here, because there's a shitton of down side.
Getting ready for vacation will be rough. He's on lifting restriction, so he's going to sit around and watch while I run like crazy. SMH.
