I couldn't find anything that predicted their day zero, for my own morbid (professional) curiosity, but that's scary. I've been following Cape Town South Africa, because they are a city on the verge.
Lack of water infrastructure in general is insane in this country and most people treat it as an annoyance instead of the crisis it is.

"A few years" is not time to get the entire population of several states moved. This is going to be a catastrophe. And people think it's going to be solved. I don't see how it is.

I apologize if this question is stupid and I just don't realize it. I have never lived on the West Coast and I've never been further west than Santa Fe, New Mexico.
From what I understand from the internet supplies water to parts of several different states, including parts of California. Also, per my internet research, Los Angeles receives its water supply from several different sources including the Colorado River / Colorado River Aquifer.
The Summer Olympics is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles in 2028. Would a water shortage / water crisis affect the ability of Los Angeles to host the Olympics?

John Oliver's deep dive on Sunday was about Colorado river water rights. They usually pay those on YouTube despite it being HBO. That's a great place to start.
I don't think it will affect Olympics, but I'm far from an expert. If anything I anticipate Olympics further exacerbating the situation by ignoring any and all drought restrictions
